Coins From Kids Who Care

During the months of January, February, and March all of the classes in Lafayette School visited the Community Foodbank of New Jersey. The relationship with the Foodbank was received with great praise as an opportunity for our students to learn about helping others who are less fortunate than themselves. It was also a chance for our kids to experience the positive feelings that go with helping others.

The second phase of this program is called “The Tenth Annual Coins From Kids Who Care”. From March 21 – April 1 students are asked to collect loose change and bring it to school as a donation to the Children’s Division of the Foodbank. All funds will be donated to the Foodbank which will use the contribution to help fund their program called “The Family Pack”. This outreach sends home food for a weekend to families whose children are unable to have nutritious meals outside of school. This year the Foodbank distributes 1,300 “family packs” each week at a cost of $4.00 per pack. Our goal is to provide 500 family packs from Lafayette School. Our kids can really make a difference in the lives of other children in New Jersey!

We are asking parents to support “Coins From Kids Who Care” by sending their loose change to school with their children so that our students learn how good it feels to help others. Start collecting your change now and send it to school starting March 21.

Thanks for your continued help.
