Mad Science STEM Assembly
This month Mad Science Raleigh visited Root for a SPOOK-tacular presentation. Both our K-2 and 3-5 audiences gasped and laughed at the Mad Scientist's peculiar science experiments. Thanks again to our PTA for a fun break from our typical schedule!
Teacher Spotlight
Amy Lawrence - Kindergarten
Amy Lawrence is an advocate for all children. She uses wonderful resources to engage her class in fun science and STEM activities. She then takes time outside of her class to share her lessons with her team and pass along materials already made and ready to go. She goes above and beyond and I know her team is grateful for her contributions! Thank you Amy for supporting and facilitating STEM instruction in Kindergarten.

Spider Catapults
Fire away! STEM with Mr. Belois and Ms. Jackson’s classes included spider catapults. We tried changing the number of popsicles in our stack and created longer catapult arms to see if that makes a difference in how far and how high they spiders launch. We enjoyed aiming for our spider target web!
