Jump Rope for Heart
APPROVED AT THE BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING LAST NIGHT!
To: Greenwich Board of Education Members
From: Bill Kelly, Chair Julian Curtiss Building Committee Date: March 10, 2023
Re: Architect Selection for the Julian Curtiss Project On behalf of the Julian Curtiss Building Committee
We seek the approval of the Board of Education to retain Antinozzi Associates as the Architects for the Julian Curtiss Project. Although approximately six firms participated in the walk through of the school as part of the bid process, at the end only Antinozzi submitted a bid of $416,800. We have $360,000 in appropriated design funds. The bid documents had requested a phasing of the architects fees and the phasing resulted in: Phase 1, Elevator and ADA Process including Access and Egress and ADA Bathroom ($99,750.); Phase 2, Front Entrance/Office/Security ($63,600); Phase 3, Cafeteria ($166,300) and Phase 4 Millwork/Equipment ($81,600) for a total of $411,250. At this stage we would enter into a phased contract for Phase # 1 and quickly supplement it after the RTM meeting in May to add Phase 2, assuming approval. We will also include preliminary portions of Phase 3 including schematic design and design development of the cafeteria which would be $51,800 of the total cafeteria design of $166,300. Further work beyond that would await subsequent discussions with BOE, BET and other interested parties. We met with the Antinozzi team and we checked all references including the officials from the Public Schools of Norwalk, Stratford, Killingly, Branford, Meriden and West Haven. The team is very familiar and adept with Elementary Schools, Elevator installations and ADA compliance. The references were all very favorable including from our own Facilities Manager, Dan Watson.
