Oregon Trail Elementary
Welcome all students and families to the 2022 - 2023 School Year!
Meet the Teacher Night - Monday, August 15th, 5:30-7:00 p.m.
Class lists will be posted by noon on August 15th at Oregon Trail. You can come down early to see who your students teacher will be or find out later that evening at the meet the teacher event.
Miscellaneous Information
First Day Procedure - It is highly recommended that parents drop their students off as normal on the first day of school. Staff will be available to help students get to their class or look up which classroom is theirs. However, parents will be able to walk their students to class on the first day of school only. After the first day, parents will not be able to walk students to class. The teachers will not be available to talk at this point because they will be working with students and getting ready for the day. If you walk your student in, do not go into the classroom. The teachers will be more able to get students set and ready without the distraction of additional people in the classroom.
Supply Lists: They have been sent to all local stores and are also available on the school and district website.
Drop Off/Pick Up: Please review the drop off/pick-up map for the safety of your child and others. We highly encourage families to pick up their students in the pickup lane. The first week of school will be slow but we will get faster.
Start/End Times: Tues. - Fri.
1st Bell: 8:00 AM
Tardy Bell: 8:05 AM
Dismissal Bell: 3:00 PM
MONDAY DISMISSAL BELL: 2:00 PM

Drop off and Pick Up Procedures
Key Components of Dismissal and DropOff
The bus zone is in front of the school. There is no parking or pulling through the lane immediately in front of the school unless you have prior authorization.
Student morning drop-off will be on the east side of the building.
Students being picked up will be released to their families as their families arrive.
There is no need to arrive early to get a good spot or park and wait.
Bike riders and walkers will be released from the west doors. The bike rack is on the west side of the building.
Bus Riders will be dismissed through the west doors and should proceed immediately to the buses in the front of the school.
Parent Pick Up Procedure Explanation
Students being picked up will be escorted by teachers to the pickup zone at the end of the lane on the east side of the school.
Parents will enter the pick-up lane from Park Ave and pull forward as far as they can, filling up the lane. There is to be NO PARKING in the pick-up lane.
As parents are in the pickup line, they’ll indicate to a Pick-Up Coordinator from the school, who they are picking up. The Coordinator will then communicate to the teachers who will send the students to the pick-up lane.
Families picking up students should have a rearview mirror hanger that displays the last name and teacher name. If you need another one, please contact the teacher.
Parents will move forward with the line until they are at the colored curb where their students should be waiting for them.
Once students are in the vehicle, parents can pull out of the pick-up lane and pass any vehicles still waiting in the pick-up lane.
If you are only picking up a student, do not park in the pick-up lane or in a parking space. It is essential for student safety that they not cross through the pick-up lane.
If you have an after-school meeting, you may park in front of the school in a parking space.
Parent Drop-Off Procedure Explanation
All student drop offs will occur on the east side of the building.
Vehicles should pull up as close to the curve as possible to drop students off. The drop off lane should flow as students are dropped off and vehicles pull away. There should be no parking in this lane.
Upon being dropped off, students may go to the playground where there is teacher supervision, to the cafeteria for breakfast where there is teacher supervision, or, on rainy/cold days the gym will be open. If it is your intent to be with your student until the bell rings, please make arrangements to arrive at 8:00 AM so there is no need to wait in a vehicle. It is highly recommended that families plan on dropping off their students before 8:00 AM so they are not tardy for class. Students will be counted tardy even if they are late due to a line or traffic.
We will help anyone get to their classrooms.
There is no parking in the drop-off lane. Do not wait with your student for the bell to ring to send your student.
The bus zone will remain blocked off until 8:15. If you’re dropping off students after 8:15, you may drop them off at the front of the school.
