5/23--Graduation 9:00 am
Math, Science, and Social Studies
We will continue working on our decimal module this week. We will be comparing mixed decimal numbers by using models, number lines, and place value charts. At the end of the week we will begin adding decimals and solving decimal word problems.
ACT Aspire Practice-We will spend some of our math block this week using Edulastic to review skills taught earlier in the year. Last week we took time to review place value, number sense, and operations. This week we will look at many multi-step word problems and how they will be scored. We will also review fractions, decimals, geometry, and measurement.
Science-We will have one more electricity lab where students will use the paper clip switch to test various items as insulators or conductors. This lab is always a class favorite!
Reading, Writing, Vocab and Word Study
Reading--We will be focusing our reading instruction on figurative language this week. In addition, students will be choosing books to begin student-led book clubs. We will also begin talking about our Author Project (more information will be coming home soon!) and selecting authors to research.
Writing--We will write about our Spring Break adventures in an Instagram format. We will also be working on summarizing our reading and focusing on key details and main ideas.
