Wayfinder Program at WHS

Thanks to an anonymous donor, WHS is able to teach a new mental-wellness course to 9th graders in their Health classes. The Wayfinder program is designed to create awareness and coping strategies for youth as they navigate difficult situations in their lives. Wayfinder stands for Wasatch Aware Youth and provides tools for students to help find their way and develop their personal compass. These lessons will be starting in November and continue once a month throughout the year. If you have questions about the program please Jennifer Roskelley at 654-0640

Utah Women & Leadership Project

The Utah Women & Leadership Project is hosting an online workshop for high-school aged young women titled “Emotional Wellbeing for Young Women: Understanding Your Brain, Body, and Behavior.” The workshop will be held on Tuesday, November 17 from 6:00pm-7:30pm. Dr. Christy Kane is the presenter for the workshop, and she will discuss some of the common emotional challenges that teens struggle with today. She will help unpack some underlying beliefs and thought processes around body image, anxiety and depression, and other emotional struggles, which will help increase mental health stability. Parents are encouraged to join as well. More information and the registration link for the workshop can be found here. Parents and students invited to attend.

10th GRADE

PCCRs

Its that time of year! Time to start planning your next school year! Can you believe you will be picking out classes for 11th grade? 10th grade students have participated in career exploration lessons this week from the counselors in their math classes. They have been given a list of electives and a course selection worksheet. Please take a few minutes to discuss course options with your student. We have told them to pick classes based on their interests, future career ideas, and a desire to try new things; don't pick classes based on your friends' choices! Choose classes that will benefit you, and help to guide you into your next step after high school. We have so many to choose from, this should be fun for you to pick new classes for next year and get you one step closer to graduation!

Please visit www.myconferencetime.com/wasatchhs to schedule an appointment with your assigned counselor. Please bring your course selection with you to your appointment(filled out already!)

Navigator.Kuder.Com

Have you heard?

Did you know that WHS students have access to a GREAT college and career platform on navigator.kuder.com??? Your student has life-long access to this account which has valuable tools like a scholarship search engine, interest inventories, college cost estimators, career search options, and an e-portfolio builder that you can share online! There are more tools on this website that students will be introduced to as they go through high school. We hope that students will take time to explore the website and learn all of the capabilities it has as they are trying to make their next-step plans after high school. Your student should have already created an account. If your student is new to WHS or they never created an account, please contact Colleen Cummings via email to request the code needed for an account. colleen.cummings@wasatch.edu
