Weekly Learning Objectives
Reading- We will pay attention to details, ask questions, and will tell what specific parts of the text teaches us.
FunDations (phonics study)- We will learn about vowel teams about ai and ay.
What is the deal with all of the sticky notes? We are teaching students to stop and jot ideas, thoughts, feelings, etc while reading so that when we discuss part of a story we can easily find where that part is. One or two sticky notes each evening is all your child needs.
Please Remember- read with your child for 20 minutes each evening. We are doing a great job with our reading with reading logs. Please remind your child to fill it in each evening and please initial it. Please help your child remember to place their folder with their reading log and book back in their backpack. Thanks!
Writing- We will finish our small moment stories. We will check our work and add details. We will make sure our sentences are complete, begin with capital letters, and end with punctuation. We will publish finished stories.
Social Studies- We will continue learning about Texas symbols and their meanings. We will begin learning about our state symbols and their meanings.
Math- We will continue practicing double-digit addition with and without regrouping.
Quick Idea- Continue quizzing basic math facts in quick short bursts. In the car, before dinner, after breakfast, etc.
Grab a deck of playing cards, remove the face cards and 10's but keep the aces. Have your child draw three cards from the deck, then you draw three cards from the deck. Aces act as the number one. Make the highest number possible with the three cards. Have your child read the number aloud. The player with the highest number wins all the cards. The player with the most cards wins!
Science- We will observe the changes our caterpillars are going through...stay tuned!
