School Breakfast Week

This next week, March 5th – 9th is School Breakfast Week. This is a nationally recognized week honoring the school breakfast program. The Child Nutrition Services (CNS) department is challenging students to eat breakfast in the cafeteria all week. Students who eat breakfast will be provided with a School Breakfast Week punch card. Each day, when the students eat breakfast in the cafeteria they will receive a punch on their card. At the end of the week, if they have filled their punch card, they will have earned a free snack from the cafeteria.

Cypress Elementary Science Fair 2018 is Coming Soon!

The deadline for students to turn in their permission slip for the Science Fair has been extended until Friday, March 9th!

This year's Science Fair will take place on Thursday, May 3, 2018! We will still have the categories of Science Experiment, Reverse Engineering, Invention, and Non-Fiction Book Study. An information packet has been created with all the pertinent details regarding each category and the roles of parents, teachers and students, and can be accessed at the link below or through the attachment to this newsletter. This packet also shows an awesome Cypress Elementary Science Fair t-shirt which will be available for purchase for all those who participate! Volunteers Needed for Field Day

Field Day is just around the corner and we need your help! Field Day is Friday, March 9th this year. Grade levels will attend at the following times 4th/5th grades are 8:15-9:45, Kínder/1st grades are 10:00-11:30 and 2nd/3rd grades at 12:30-2:00. If you can volunteer for one, two or all even all three shifts, we need you! Any amount of time you can volunteer is greatly appreciated. There are plenty of slots to sign up for on the volunteer website at

Leadership Day

You may be asking yourself…What exactly is Leadership Day? It is a time to hear about our Leader in Me journey and to see our young leaders in action. During your visit, you will hear student presenters and be led on tours across the campus. **Note: This day is for seeing leadership across the campus. The tours are pre-set, so we cannot guarantee you will see your own child’s classroom. We will provide another time for you to observe leadership in your child’s classroom. Thank you! Cypress Book Drive to Benefit Summer Reading For All (#SR4A)

Got Junk? I mean…awesome books that you want to donate? Spring Break is just around the corner and while your family is spring cleaning, please consider donating your gently used books to Cypress Elementary’s book drive. The books will be donated to benefit Leander ISD’s Summer Reading For All program (#SR4A). The donation boxes will be located in the upstairs foyer, by the library, from March 19th - 23rd. Our school has set a goal of 1,200 donated books. Please help us reach our goal!

QUEST Fair Save the Date

The QUEST Fair will take place on two separate nights this year. Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, March 21st 6:00 - 7:30 (1st and 2nd graders) and Wednesday, March 28th 5:30 - 7:30 (3rd, 4th and 5th grades).

Boots & Bling PTA Fundraiser

The PTA Spring Boots & Bling Auction and Fundraiser is just around the corner and tickets are on sale now! To order you ticket, please go to the Store Tab at Please see the flyer below for additional information. There is limited seating at the event, so please order your tickets as soon as possible to avoid missing a seat. There are spectacular Silent & Live Auction items this year and lots of fun to be had! Tickets are $40 per person. FREE childcare will be available at the event.
