Family Coding Night
Celebrate Hour of Code Week by stopping by our Family Coding Night at NMES on Wednesday, December 7th, from 6-7:30 p.m.! Throughout the evening, you can enjoy robot-themed storytimes, create unplugged coding
activities, try our robots and strike a pose at our robot-themed Selfie Station! Don't forget to enter your name into our drawing that night for a chance to win coding books! Email Mrs. Siderius, our media specialist, at jennifer.siderius@fcps.org with questions!
Book Fair Wrap Up
Thank you to everyone for supporting our fall book fair! Our sales totaled $10,795! The media center will receive 25% of the profit. This profit provided $967 in discounts to staff and volunteers, books for students and books for the media center. The remaining profit will be used for author visit and additional media center resources. Thank you to everyone for their support!
Gingerbread Man Book Character Contest
We had so much fun with students' creativity during our book character pumpkin contest, that we're doing it again--with gingerbread men! Watch for the gingerbread man paper coming home with students the week of 11/28. Students may decorate it to look like a book character and then return it to the media center by December 15th to hang on the media center bulletin board. Papers will be retuned to students after winter break and Mrs. Siderius will randomly select winners for gingerbread themed books and prizes!
Optional Choice Board
In December, we celebrate many diverse holidays! You can learn about Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Christmas and more with our optional choice board! Find it at https://bit.ly/NMESDecBoard. For questions or assistance, please email our media specialist, Mrs. Siderius, at jennifer.siderius@fcps.org.

Visits from Sandy
We are excited to announce that we have a new therapy dog who will be visiting with staff and students throughout the year! Hero Dogs Sandy is a 4 year-old yellow Labrador retriever. Sandy and her owner, Sue, are excited to begin working with our students. Thank you to Sandy and Sue for volunteering your time to NMES!
Helping our Young Wolves
To support our Young Wolves still at home, we are sharing an idea to support their development.
When you are reading to your child at bedtime, ask them questions about the story: "What do you think will happen next? How do you think the character feels? What would you do if that happened to you? Asking questions helps your little one learn to focus and pay attention.
