Choosing Activities

At DCDS, we offer a dizzying array of after school activities and those choices grow in number as your child ages. A first grader, for example, might choose violin lessons, Lego League, Junior Jackets sports programs, or PM enrichment classes. Plus, your child might have off-campus lessons, like swimming, piano or golf. How do you limit all these activities? Here's our best advice for sampling the well of choices without exhausting your child OR yourself.

Simply DIVIDE your child's AGE in HALF to determine a reasonable number of activities per week. For example, a 6 year-old might engage in 3 activities per week, such as one PM enrichment class, cheerleading and weekend swim classes. Balanced schedules help families to decrease stress; try it!
