Timberbeast Times
November 4, 2021
Message from Mrs. Gray
It is hard to believe we are already in November, but the weather has definitely made the shift to fall. This week our PAX focus has been on PAX Voices and PAX Quiet. Below are what our posters look like in the classrooms and around the building. These are predictable expectations for what level students' voices should be during different activities. Ask your child about what this looks like and see if they can model it for you. You may even want to use this language at home!
In Partnership,
Melanie Gray
Veterans Day, November 11, 2021
Next week we honor all veterans of our country on Veterans Day, November 11, 2021.
As citizens, we have a responsibility to educate our youth on the contributions and sacrifices veterans have made throughout our history. In honor of Veterans, there will be no school next Thursday, Nov. 11th. We will return and have school on Friday, Nov. 12th. Please look below to see an interview form for your child to interview a Veteran if they would like. They can return the form to school by Tuesday, November 9th.
Veterans Day Interview Questions
Thank you veterans and your families for your service and sacrifices to preserve our freedoms.

PTA Reflections Program
Salem Woods will be participating in the Reflections program this school year! Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through 12th grade create original works of art in response to a student-selected theme. This 50+ year-old program helps students explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life. This year's theme is I Will Change the World By.... More details to come! Questions? Please contact Betsy Burnett - betsybasch21@gmail.com.
Here are some introductory videos:
Digital Citizenship
For this rotation of Digital Learning in Kindergarten and Grade 1 we will look at how computers work. Students will then draw or make their own computer, including the different input and output components.
In grades 2-5 we will do an “unplugged” activity that introduces concepts used in programming. This is an engaging lesson that allows students to participate in different roles as we go through the steps to program a robot.
Keep Calm and Code On!
Ms. Glaze
