Think, Make, Innovate: QR Code Story Writing
Midland Elementary students create the ultimate combination of story writing with making in our newest episode. They write, they create, they code, they use visual effects - watch this episode to check out their amazing work! This challenge focuses on students writing stories from QR prompts, creating characters models from their stories that can fit around a robot which they code to travel through a green screen created scene! The students from Midland Elementary took on a huge maker mash-up of skills in this episode, by creating, coding & learning about video effects.
A BIG thanks to Kandi Marshall for allowing us to be a part of this great maker experience!
There are so many different ways you could interpret this challenge and we'd love to see your take on them! Join our Maker Community by sending us your photos or videos through social media and tag @dlgwaea or send an email to makerspace@gwaea.org and we will post them on our website, www.dlgwaea.org.

UNI Computer Science Offerings for Summer 2018
The CS Education group at the University of Northern Iowa is pleased to
announce two courses during the summer of 2018.
The first is a six week, online-only, course for all teachers K-12 who want to learn more about Scratch and ways to use it in their classroom. This course is offered free for personal PD only or for $100 for one hour of credit through UNI.
The second is an eight week, hybrid course of online and face-to-face that will serve as the first of a five-course sequence as part of the NEW UNI Partnership for CS Teacher Preparation. This course will be free to teachers from our RPP Partner Districts [applications still being accepted] and $265 for all others. This full sequence is expected to meet the requirements for the soon to be released Computer Science Endorsement [pending final BOEE approval].
