Winter MAP Test - Week of December 7th

LWJES will be taking the MAP Growth test next week in grades K-5! Our schedule for 12/7, 12/8, and 12/9 will be modified to allow for blocks of time for students to work on their MAP Growth tests. Your child's teacher will share specific information about tests at the time of the sessions.

Your assistance is appreciated by helping your child with test functionality like how to choose an answer, how to use the tools or scratch paper, and reinforcing making their best choice for an answer even when questions are difficult or may be about something the student hasn't yet learned.

Please do not give your child answers to questions on the test!

The test is designed to challenge a student, and in order for the results to give the best information to the teacher, there will be a number of questions that a student may get wrong.

In fact, the test is designed to present questions to students based on their response to their last question, and it expects students to miss about half of the questions in order to determine what a student already knows and what the student is ready to learn next.

We know it can be disheartening to know or see that a student is not able to answer every question correctly, but it is a good opportunity to practice the skills of persistence and responding positively to challenging situations.

In addition, this test never is used for a grade in the grade book. The results are used by teachers to monitor student growth over time and to plan for upcoming lessons based on what students were able to do and what they might be ready to learn next.
