ALL HANDS ON DECK
Help Needed: Staff Appreciation Lunch
Please check out the sign up here to see if you can send in an item or two. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
* NOTE: Donated items should be sent in disposable containers since the school will be closed for the holiday break and you will be unable to retrieve your containers.
WCPSS Volunteer Reactivation
The deadline has been extended until November 15th. Simply stop by the school and complete the online form. The front office will direct you.
Thank you for your service to WCPSS schools!
Calling All Handy-Men and Women
This would be a great way to get some dads involved ready to show off their skills! We have a grant writer happy to work with you to try and secure funds and supplies from some of the big box hardware stores and plenty of PTA parents ready to assist with getting the work done. In other words, if you haven't volunteered with the PTA before, you'd have lots of support.
If you are interested, please reach out to Mandy Wagstaff at wagstaff1007@gmail.com for more information.
TREASURE CHEST
Art By Me Reminder
Order Art By Me as presents for your holiday shopping list and you will actually be giving two gifts - one to your friends and family and one to our art program! And who can resist that adorable art made by our creative students?
Orders were due for Track 2 on November 3rd (you can still make online orders, they just might not arrive at the same time).
Orders are due for Tracks 1, 3 and 4 on November 21st.
Boosterthon Fun Run Recap
Thank you to all the families, friends, neighbors, and businesses who donated to our Fun Run! We raised more than $36,000 in profit to use towards the purchase of technology! We couldn't have done it without you.
The top fundraising classes for each grade were:
Kindergarten - Burleson (Track 1)
1st Grade - Fretz (Track 1)
2nd Grade - Donaldson (Track 1)
3rd Grade - Fink (Track 1)
4th Grade - Montgomery (Track 3)
5th Grade - Christensen (Track 4)
And the top class for the entire school was Mrs. Donaldson's Track 1 2nd Grade class. They earned a Cici's pizza party and complementary lunch for Mrs. Donaldson.
Did your kiddos come home singing some awesome tunes from the carpool music? Keep the party going throughout the year with this Boosterthon playlist on Spotify.
Hang onto your hats because next October, Dr. Shock and the kids will be going back in time to 1873 for a Wild West themed Boosterthon!
Check out the graphic below with cool details about this year's fun run!
Spirit Night: Save the Date
Where: Glory Days Grill, 1413 Kelly Road (in the Publix Pointe Shopping Center)
When: Wednesday, December 5th
Why: Good food, friends, no dishes to clean up, and it's a fundraiser for your school? That's a win-win-win-win!
CREW NEWS
STEM Night
OCE will be hosting its first STEM night on November 29!
STEM night will provide a unique opportunity for our students and community to explore the world of STEM by tinkering, experimenting, asking questions, and much more!
N.C. State STEM and R.T.N.N. students will be here performing hands-on activities with all families. Green Hope High and Apex High Robotics Teams will showcase their competitive robots. And we have a number of additional presenters from our community participating, eager to make this experience meaningful and exciting for all families.
The event will run from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. at the school. This is a night you won't want to miss.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: If you can help with set-up and/or clean-up, please sign-up here. Kids are welcome to join you to help as well!
Cultural Arts Program: This One's for the Birds
Family Marathon
Our OCE Family Marathon is here!
Tracks 1 and 3 will run on Wednesday, November 14th (rain date is Thursday, November 15th).
We will meet in the gym at 2:00 p.m. where the students will warm up and listen for instructions. Around 2:30 p.m. we will go outside to jog/run our last mile.
Check out these pictures (courtesy of Apex Deputy Fire Marshal David Dillon) from the Tracks 2 & 4 Marathon finish - The Apex Police and Apex Fire Departments, the Apex Friendship High School football team, and Wool E. Bull were all in attendance with our fellow students, teachers, and parents to cheer on and award our family marathon finishers!
Kids Corps Thank You!
Great job, Clippers and Kids Corps!
Fitness Photo Fun!
During the next several weeks we will practice Physical Fitness and its components
(cardio, strength, muscle endurance and flexibility) in PE and learn all about why it is so
important to stay physically fit.
Please send in a favorite photo of your student being physically active. They can bring it with them to PE class. We will place them on the PE bulletin board to see what the students at OCE are doing to stay fit.
Thank you! ~ Coach Roberts
Crayola Color Cycle Program
Don't forget to drop off your used markers, highlighters, and dry erase markers in the ColorCycle donation drop boxes at school before November 30th.
The Crayola ColorCycle program repurposes used markers rather than sending them to landfills.
Students and teachers all around OCE will be collecting used markers that are ready to be discarded. Please help support our efforts by sending in any used markers you may have around the house -- even non-Crayola brands! Highlighters and dry erase markers can also be included.
