Campion College Newsletter
Term 1, Week 1 - 31 Jan to 5 February 2023

FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S PEN
Kia ora parents and caregivers,
Nau mai, haere mai, greetings
Week one is over, and we have quickly settled into our school routines. To those students who are new to our College, we hope that you have been made to feel welcome and that you are managing the change well. Please contact your learning mentor if there are any areas that are concerning you.
At the end of last year, we were sad to farewell the following staff: Adam Rossouw, who has moved to Wellington to work for the Ministry of Education, Louise Hyland, who has also moved to Wellington to work with NZQA, Bronwyn Helm, who moved into partial retirement while also taking on the challenges of orchard work, Michelle Hughey who has moved back home to Auckland to teach and Sarah McCulloch who has taken up a position with Te Kura, The Correspondence School. We thank these staff for their energy over many years in helping shape our College, and we wish them every joy and success for the new adventures ahead.
We are very pleased to welcome the following staff for 2023: Morgan Scott, who has taken on the role of Head of Social Sciences, Jon Barry, who has moved into the English Department, Tamin Simmer, who will be teaching in the Mathematics area, Sofia Drescher who is working in Learning Support and in the Arts and Justine Mear who has also moved into the Learning Support Centre. We know that the new staff have settled in quickly and are enjoying the friendliness and enthusiasm of the students and staff.
While there have only been four school days this week, it has been hectic. We are delighted with how students have started the year; however, we anticipate some ongoing disruptions to a few students as we finalise the last details. If it affects you, we ask for students’ and families’ patience. We hope that all families enjoy the long weekend ahead.

KARAKIA
Let us pray that our Marist ministries and schools,
especially Campion College,
are always places which share their abundant resources
with those in greater need.
Help us loving Father, to model ourselves on St Marcellin’s
simplicity of behaviour,
most especially in our way of relating to You and to others.
With Mary as our inspiration, may we strive to be people of integrity - truthful, open-hearted and transparent in our relationships with all whom we encounter.
Amen.
