What is required to tryout for a Winter Sport
MANDATORY *** In order to be able to attend practices on November 2nd or later, you will need to check your clearance status within your PRIVIT profile (explained below). You will only be granted access to practice with a Cleared status in PRIVIT as well as a completed COVID-19 screening with your coach.
1. Submission incomplete – This means you have not completed all the requirements for us to review your profile. Go back thru all the blue buttons and update/complete missing components.
2. Submission complete – This means you have completed everything and it is waiting for someone in the activities office to review your information.
3. Not Cleared Deferred – This means your submissions had something that did not pass the screening process (i.e. out of date physical, no insurance listed, missing signatures, etc…) You will need to go back in to your profile to complete the missing/incomplete/inaccurate data.
4. Cleared – This means you are cleared to attend practice on November 2nd or later.

Boys Basketball Information
I hope everyone is doing well! I am looking forward to and hopeful that we will be starting our basketball season in about a month! I want to communicate some items to you about tryouts and have the players sign-up if that is their intention this year.
Players, please log into your Parkway account and use the following Google Forms link to sign-up for tryouts.
Players and Parents: Please review the tryout criteria on the following link:

Tryouts will begin on Monday November 2nd. There is still much that we do not know about the actual schedule for tryouts and practices. Once I have confirmed our schedule with Mr. Kessler I will send a follow-up email with that information. We most likely will be practicing Monday-Saturday for approximately 2 hours each day. Our practice time slot will be anywhere from 3-8 pm during the week and 8 am-Noon on Saturdays. Again, once I know the exact times I will let you know. Please note that Tuesday November 3rd (Election Day) there will be no classes so we may practice earlier in the day depending on gym availability.
I am excited to announce two additions to our coaching staff. First, Matt Catanzaro joins our staff to be the Head Freshman Coach. Matt teaches Math at Parkway South High School and has 6 years of high school basketball coaching experience including 5 years as a Sophomore Head Coach. Matt will be an outstanding addition to our basketball program!
I also want to welcome home Mario Patton who is a 1992 Parkway West Boys Basketball program alum. Mario has taught and coached at Ritenour high school since 2004. Mario will join our coaching staff at the varsity level. Mario is currently getting to know our student athletes as he is serving as an assistant football coach for the Longhorns. I am overjoyed that Mario will be back at Parkway West in this new role!
There is much to be excited about as the new season approaches!
Take care,
John Wright
