25 Years of Growing Together in Faith & Knowledge
Dear SFCS Parents & Friends,
I hope everyone is having a great weekend and enjoying this cool autumn weather!
We have a busy week coming up at SFCS. Our Junior Basketball teams will be joining the Senior Basketball teams in beginning their season this week. The Middle School will be performing in the Proverbs Museum on Tuesday afternoon. Our 5th grade students will be serving as docents. The students have been working hard with Mrs. Sweeney in preparing for this activity. Parents are welcome to attend.
We will be ending the week with two Spirit Days. Thursday is the regularly scheduled monthly Spirit Day. We are asking for any Thanksgiving related food items to be collected for local food banks. Thank you to the Beta Club for organizing this service activity. Since this Friday is our last Friday that we will be in school for November, then the students and faculty may come to school in their 25th Anniversary T-Shirt. Spirit wear uniform guidelines apply for both days.
Lastly, I would like to ask for 15 - 30 minutes of your time. Right now our annual Cognia Survey is open to complete. This survey and the results it gathers is essential for our Strategic Planning and Continuous Improvement process as SFCS and in the Diocese. While the survey may be a little lengthy, it thoroughly covers all the National Catholic School Benchmarks and Standards. Data from this survey is reviewed and used as data to support the updating and revision of St. Francis Catholic School's Strategic Improvement Plan. I ask that you please provide your honest feedback and to share your opinion in this survey. Please let us honestly know what we are doing well at SFCS and where we can continue to grow. The more surveys completed then the more valid our data is. If we get over 50% of our current parent population to complete the survey then Mr. Pope will treat all students to an ice cream treat at school! Here is the survey link and it is also included below in the Other School News section. eProve™ surveys (advanc-ed.org)
I hope everyone has a wonderful remainder to the rest of your weekend!
Sincerely in Christ,
Brian Pope

Kindergarten
Kindergarten had a busy week honoring our USA veterans! We learned about the different branches and even made connections with real-life pictures of parents and grandparents who have served our country! Kindergarten was proud to take-home books and read them to their parents, finish their Math Journal and learn about respect through the love of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

SFCS Basketball Developmental Program Signups…our program is in its second year and geared for kids in pre-k through 4th grade. Since Upward Basketball is definitely a “no-go” again this year, there will be limited options on the island for young hoopsters this winter. Our Saturday morning program is fast-paced and a fun way for kids to learn some basic basketball skills while also having the opportunity to play some small-sided games. We hope that you’ll consider joining us again this January and February. Due to safety precautions, program space will be limited. Click on the link below to print out a copy of the Registration Packet.
Searching for Boys’ and Girls’ Head Soccer Coaches for the spring…the soccer season is only March and April. Without a field here on campus, practices are at Barker Field and our games are at local schools. It’s a lot of fun getting back outside with the kids after the cold winter months! Please email me at mweaver@sfcshhi.com if you are interested.
Looking for help during HOME BASKETBALL NIGHTS…need an adult to help manage and supervise the gym on HOME game nights. Due a lack of coaches, I will be coaching both Senior Basketball teams this year…it’s the reality of the situation in order to have (4) basketball teams this season. This person would oversee gym operations and various parent volunteers on game nights from 3:30-6:30/7pm. If interested, please email me at mweaver@sfcshhi.com.
Join the Official School Facebook page…stay connected through pictures and commentary on all the latest happenings with our school teams. Any upcoming special events will be posted here as well. So please join our Facebook page today!!
Virtue of the Week - RESPONSIBILITY
Be responsible for one’s personal actions and decisions at home, at school, and in personal relationships.
Our Prayer:
Dear Jesus,
Please help me to be faithful in all the duties You have entrusted
to me this day, fulfilling each with great care and love!
Amen
