SST Program at Fernbank Science Center
We are pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the Scientific Tools and Techniques (STT) Program at Fernbank Science Center for the 2022-2023 school year. STT is an advanced, fast-paced, one-semester science program designed to familiarize ninth grade students with the tools and techniques of scientific inquiry. STT exposes students to many science fields and STEM careers. Each school year, 180 students are selected to participate in the program -- ninety students are selected to attend each semester. The spring 2022 STT application process will be completely online using the Google Classroom platform. We have created the 2022 – 2023 STT Digital Brochure for you to learn more about this premier DeKalb County School District (DCSD) program!
Application Deadline is Friday, February 25th!
Student Selection Process: Eighth graders interested in applying for STT should see Mrs. Crowder room #805 for information on the application process. Each middle school accepts applications and scores students based on the following criteria: 1. English, Math, Science and Social Studies grades. 2. One 7th or 8th grade science teacher recommendation. 3. Evaluation of student responses to short answer questions.

Student Spotlight: Brooke and Caiden
Our student spotlights this week are Brooke Guggenheim (8gr) and Caiden Phelps (6gr)! Both students are two of many that participate on our morning announcements. They work very hard in their classes and also try to participate in extracurriculars.
Both students were asked what is their favorite thing about Peachtree and this is what they had to say:
Brooke - I love the STEM team and Mr. Casey's class. There's new opportunities to learn and we get to build new things and learn about stuff you didn't know before.
Caiden - I love that there's clubs you couldn't do in elementary. I also like Mr. Gardiner's ELT because we do fun stuff like chess and going outside to learn.
We are so grateful for their support on our morning announcements and we are eager to see how their public speaking skills continue to develop!
