Celebrate Neurodiversity with Autism Acceptance Month: The human brain is vast & incredible and we need more understanding, appreciation, & representation of neurodiversity. Autism affects 1 in 68 children. Boys are nearly 5 times more likely than girls to be diagnosed with ASD. While knowing the facts is definitely a key part of awareness, let's be sure to also celebrate the great human beings that live with Autism and make our lives richer. Check out these books picks from Colours of Us to help celebrate neurodiversity: or these

Learn how to support our Transgender and Nonbinary youth with this wonderful guide from Trevor Project. Parents looking for age-appropriate reading material for younger children who are transgender, gender expansive, or simply have a lot of questions, might think that their options are limited. Happily, that’s not the case. The books below each offer a different way to affirm, to learn, and to start important conversations.

Also, did you know that Reed has a GSA Club (Gender & Sexuality Alliance)? This club is a safe and welcoming space for Reed LGBTQ+ students, staff and allies to make friends, play games, and discuss issues that come up in day-to-day life. The club meets Tuesday at lunch. If you missed the club signup, contact Ms. Awalt by sending a message from the school website or a message on schoology.
