Hello Families,

Thank you for an amazing 11 years!

It is with great appreciation that I say my goodbyes to the fantastic Kirkwood community. This is one of those magical places to be with students, families and staff who really care about equity and social justice and work hard to make our school, our community and our world a better place!

I look forward to my retirement plans of traveling, reading and spending time with family, knowing you are in great hands with all the committed staff at Kirkwood and under the leadership of the amazing Renee Person!

All my respect,

Anita Gerling

New Student Device Info

Great News!

The Iowa City Community School District is refreshing our student technology with new and updated Chromebooks! In order for your student to receive a new device, current devices, including chargers and cases (if your student was issued a case) need to be at school. Please help your students locate any missing chromebooks, chargers, and cases before their exchange date.

Onsite students will exchange their devices Monday, June 7.

OLP students will exchange devices in one of the following ways:

  • Friday, June 4 - Tuesday, June 8 7:45am-3:30pm

  • By appointment

We are asking all students and families to familiarize themselves with our technology use expectations. Classes will be discussing these expectations the week of June 1-3, and it would be very helpful if you could also discuss these expectations as a family. Here are the K-3 and 4-6 grade technology agreements your children will review and sign.

Printed copies of the technology use agreement will be sent home with your student. Please post the agreement where your child can see it, and remind them of the expectations if necessary. We are so very fortunate to have this updated technology available for our students, and proper use will help keep them working for a long time to come.

OLP Materials to Return to Kirkwood - June 3rd -8th

As we are finishing up this school year we ask that families with students in the online learning program (OLP) return their materials to Kirkwood the week of June 3rd-8th 7:45am-3:30pm. The following chart shows what each grade level is asked to return.
