Pick Up/Drop off Procedures
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We have finalized the process for parents to pick up student belongings and for you to return any school resources, such as library books and any textbooks your child may have at home.
To help minimize the number of people at the building at one time, we have organized our pick up/drop off days based on the alphabet. We have also scheduled daytime and early evening pick up times for your convenience. These times are coordinated with North Elementary so that parents can go to both buildings on the same day within the same time slot if you have students in both buildings.
We will NOT be collecting Chromebooks and chargers.
That said, there are some exceptions of the devices that will be collected. We want to collect any device that;
· has physical damage (cracked screen, missing keys)
· Is not functioning properly (apps do not load, the battery doesn't charge, the device will not boot or is slow
· the student is leaving the district
Please note these important MUST DO steps to prepare for your arrival.
- Collect all school materials that must be returned. This includes library books, hardback textbooks, and any books from the teacher’s classroom library. Please note that any books that are consumable (can be written in) are for the students to keep. Those do not need to be returned.
- Please have the students write their first and last name inside the front cover of any hardback textbook on the designated line if it is not already there.
- Please have students place a post-it note with their teacher’s last name inside the front cover of any teacher’s classroom library book.
- If you fall into one of the categories for Chromebook collection, please make sure your child’s name is on the sticker on the underside of the Chromebook and on the charger. If not, please make sure a post-it note with your child’s first and last name are included on both the Chromebook and the charger.
- Library books do not need to be marked. They will be scanned back into the library.
- Place textbooks, classroom library books, and any other items that need to be returned to the teacher in a plastic grocery sack (i.e. plastic Kroger bag) and mark the bag with your child’s first and last name. Keep school library books separate. They will be placed on a library cart. The grocery sack of items will be placed in a bin.
Pick up/Drop off Process:
Parents will enter the main drive of South Elementary.
You will follow the drive to the right where a staff member will ask for your child’s name and assign you to a zone.
You will park in your designated zone.
You will get out of your car and add the above-mentioned resources to the designated bins in your zone.
A staff member will deliver your child’s belongings to your zone for you to retrieve.
You will pull out and exit out our back drive that goes behind the Middle School.
Pick up/Drop off Designated Times:
- Monday 5/18 -- 11:00 - 1:00 and 4:00 - 5:30, Last names with letters A-H
- Tuesday 5/19 -- 11:00 - 1:00 and 4:00 - 5:30, Last names with letters I-Q
- Wednesday 5/20 -- 11:00 - 1:00 and 4:00 - 5:30, Last names with letters R-Z
- Thursday 5/21 -- 4:00-5:30 arrangements made as necessary

2020-2021 Registration
Registration is now open for the 2020-2021 school year. We hope you will find this feature convenient for you and your family to take care of registration details online.
Please note: families of incoming kindergarteners that already have other students enrolled at DCSC can enroll their kindergartener in the system the same way as outlined below. If your child attended our Little Warrior Learning Center Preschool, they should already be on the application. Graduating seniors do not need to close anything out in Infinite Campus.
The registration process is used to update and verify all information for our students, and to collect all of the necessary "paperwork" for sports, clubs, etc. At the end of the registration process, there is a page with yes/no buttons for these documents. Now that paper copies are no longer distributed, it is very important that you complete the registration.
In order to register your student for the upcoming school year, you will need a Parent Portal account. If you do not have a Parent Portal account, you will need to create one which will require an activation key. Please contact your child's school via email for instructions on how to obtain an activation key and directions for setting it up.
If you already have a Parent Portal account, please login to access the online registration. (If you have forgotten your password, please contact your child’s school via email and they will process requests in the order received.) Select "More" on the sidebar in the Parent Portal and then select "Online Registration." When you click to start your registration, all of your Household, Parent/Guardian and Emergency Contacts should pre-populate for you. You will have the opportunity to make changes if necessary. Walk through the steps to register your students and submit the application.
If you have any questions throughout the process, please reach out to your child’s school. With the current school closure, we have limited office hours and staff. Please be patient as we work to assist you and first contact your child’s school via email:

Although online registration is currently available for the next school year, free and reduced meal applications for the 2020-21 school year will not be available until early July. Further information will be sent out when the 2020-21 free/reduced meal applications are released from the USDA. Please refrain from reapplying for free/reduced meals until this time.
Online applications will be the preferred method of applying because they are received and processed immediately. Paper applications will still be available in the front office of your student’s school or at the administration office later in the summer.
Direct certification letters will also be mailed out at this time to notify you if your student automatically qualifies for free or reduced meals due to SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, or foster status.
If you are in need of assistance outside of the school meal program, visit https://www.in.gov/fssa/dfr/3164.htm to apply for SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, HHW, or HIP benefits.
Thank you for choosing Danville Schools! We are excited to prepare for the 2020-21 school year and can't wait to welcome you and your child back in August.
Moving?
Thank you.
