What Is Midwifery
A midwife is a health professional who is uniquely qualified to provide support, care and advice to childbearing women during pregnancy, labour and the post-partum period.
Hazard
A hazard is any source of risk or danger that could cause harm to you. Staff in the Midwifery centre must make sure that they dispose of needles and are not left lying around.
Environmental contamination from waste products produced as a result of health care delivery including from protective clothing.
Risk
Spreading infection to new mothers and babies. Infection such as Endometritis which is an infection of the endometrium or lining of the uterus. You can be transferred to hospitals most common reason for this is after the birth you need stitches as well as heavy bleeding. 9 out of 10 mums tear to some degree when giving birth naturally.
Harm
Smoking can be extremely harmful to the newborn and the newly mother as smoking leaves fine particles on clothing and on skin, which can be harmful to babies.
