6 Steps

1: Obtain a Green Card ( has been officially granted immigration benefits )

2: Maintain a Physical Presence ( Needs to be in US for 30 months out of 5 years)

3: Complete the USCIS form N- 400 (Background information and costs % 680)

4: Fingerprinted ( used to preform background checks )

5: Past interview and naturalization test ( Understanding english/Civics , given two chances )

6:Attend the Oath Ceremony ( swear an oath of loyalty to the US )

Loss of Citizenship

(Ways to loss citizenship)

  1. Obtaining naturalization in a foreign state;

  2. Taking an oath, affirmation or other formal declaration to a foreign state or its political subdivisions;

  3. Entering or serving in the armed forces of a foreign state engaged in hostilities against the U.S. or serving as a commissioned or non-commissioned officer in the armed forces of a foreign state;

  4. Accepting employment with a foreign government if (a) one has the nationality of that foreign state or (b) a declaration of allegiance is required in accepting the position;

  5. Formally renouncing U.S. citizenship before a U.S. consular officer outside the United States;

  6. Formally renouncing U.S. citizenship within the U.S. (but only "in time of war");

  7. Conviction for an act of treason.

What is an illegal Alien

One who has enter the US without a permission/is residing without permission/violated terms of admission, are identified under federal law as an illegal alien.

What is a legal alien?

One who a legal alien is a non-citizen who is legally permitted to remain in a country. This is a very broad category which includes tourists, guest workers legal permitted residents and student visa resident aliens.
