Message from Dr. Epperson

STAAR testing was a success this week. Our students worked really hard! Results will be reported to us after school is out, and we will work as quickly as possible to get the information to you.

We will clean out lockers next Wednesday.

No backpacks or laptops needed after Wednesday.

Students may bring a drawstring bag on Thursday and Friday.

Grades will be posted in HAC on May 27th.

Please encourage your child to make great choices next week. Sometimes students decide to make poor choices at the end of the year. Consequences from those choices can carry over into the next year, including high school transition. We all want to end the year positively.

Thank you and have a wonderful weekend!

Summer Laptop Procedures

If your child has a fee assigned in HAC due to a damaged computer or has a loaner computer, the laptop will be collected the last week of school.

If a damage fee is owed in HAC and is not paid prior to May 15th, we will collect the laptop for the summer.

If you are moving over the summer and will not return to MISD, please notify our school registrar at so we can collect the laptop and charger the last week of school.

If your child is in 6th or 7th grade, we will be happy to store your child's laptop over the summer. We can not store laptops for 8th graders going to high school. Please complete this form to request summer storage by Sunday, May 15th.

Note that outstanding fees owed may prevent current 8th graders from receiving a schedule at schedule pick-up events at high schools.

You can see any fees owed in Home Access Center .

Yearbook Distribution

Yearbooks have arrived! We will be distributing these for 8th graders during science classes and 6th and 7th graders during history classes on Monday, May 16th. If you have pre-ordered a yearbook, your student will pick theirs up on this day. Each history and science teacher will have a list of students who pre-ordered a book.

There are about 50-60 yearbooks remaining that will be for sale starting on Tuesday, May 17th. If you did not pre-order a yearbook and would like to purchase one of these extras you can sign up on the waitlist here. Those requests will be filled in the order you sign up. Yearbooks will be $45 cash only. Your student(s) can bring the payment to the Yearbook classroom, E123, located in the electives hallway on the other side of the library.

Make sure your student brings their yearbook back to school for our signing parties! This is the chance for students to sign each other’s books adding to their memories. Signing parties will take place on the following days:

8th grade: Wednesday, May 18

6th and 7th grade: Thursday, May 19

If you have any questions, please contact our Yearbook advisor, Ms. Jasmine Haynes at

6th Grade to 7th Grade Immunizations Transition-Letter to Parent

Your student will need proof of the following new immunizations to pick up a grade schedule for the 2022-2023 school year.

We're informing you well in advance to help you avoid possible vaccine shortages and long lines at immunization clinics in August. Your child's classroom assignment and/or schedule will be withheld next fall until his/her school immunization records are up-to-date.

**Please bring your child's complete immunization records and this letter with you to the doctor's office or immunization clinic and return the record to your campus nurse prior to August 10, 2022.

Please note: In the past, these immunization clinics would not turn anyone away, even if they had private insurance. Due to recent changes at the state level, these clinics can no longer provide immunizations to those with private insurance. If you have private insurance, it's important that you make an appointment with your doctor as soon as possible to get your child's immunizations updated.

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/pertussis-containing vaccine (unless a booster dose received within the past five years for 7th grade, last 10 years for 8th )

  • Meningococcal vaccine (one dose after age 11 and every 5 years after last dose)

  • Varicella vaccine (two doses received on or after 1st birthday)

  • MMR vaccine (two doses received on or after 1st birthday)

  • Hepatitis A vaccine (two doses received on or after 1st birthday)

The vaccines listed above are required in addition to those required by earlier laws. A signed statement of varicella disease will count towards the varicella requirement.

It is necessary for your child to be in compliance before the start of school 2022-2023.

Carpool students exit front of building

All carpool students must exit through the front of the building. We can't have pedestrian traffic crossing the bus lane in the back of the school. There is no carpool line behind the school and there should never be pedestrian traffic crossing the bus lane. Students exiting our back doors or crossing bus traffic will be redirected to the front of the building.

Students who live in the neighborhood behind the school and need to cross are being identified and given instructions to get home safely.
