Distance Learning Announcements and Updates, 8/22/20
A Message from Principal Ghereben
Good Morning Proctor Community,
We made it through the first full week of school! Many have reached out to share their frustrations about their student's online learning experience, asked for technology support, and have shared positives about what is going well! We truly appreciate your feedback to help us navigate this virtual world of learning, so thank you for your patience.
Now that enrollment has leveled out across the district and our school site, class placements have been finalized. Curriculum continues to trickle in, and we will schedule additional days for families to come onsite to pick-up these materials, so keep an eye out for this communication from your classroom teacher.
All this just in time for our next phase in Distance Learning! This coming week, teachers will begin their Synchronous instruction in Math, Reading, Writing, and Science. PE teachers have also provided live synchronous instruction for grades first through fifth grade, and music teachers are busy developing asynchronous music instruction for fourth and fifth grade (more info on that to come). Our new school counselor, Julie Fisher, will also be providing live synchronous SEL lessons every other week to all grade levels, and will begin counseling services to our students who need additional social emotional supports.
Please continue to read below about some upcoming events, updates and announcements.

Proctor Virtual Back to School Night!
I will begin the evening with an introductory message, along with a slide show to introduce the Proctor School staff, and the Proctor PTA. I will then dismiss families to log into your teacher's Google Classroom to watch an introductory video created by grade level teachers from both programs (CVVPE & DL), about the instructional year. Once you have viewed this video, you will be provided a Zoom link to a live online Q & A session. During this session, you will be able to ask questions and clarify any additional information you may need. Do know, that your teachers will be providing information primarily about our time in Distance Learning, not the Hybrid model. Additional informational meetings will be scheduled weeks before we transition back to a hybrid model.
Tuesday, August 24th - CVVPE Back to School Night ( 6:00-7:00 PM) CVVPE teachers will send out details about the schedule for this night.
Wednesday, August 26th - Kinder through 2nd Grade
Thursday, August 27th - 3rd through 5th Grade
Here is the approximate schedule (please look for the exact times from your classroom teacher):
5:30 - Principal Message
6:00 - Grade Level/Teacher video presentation
6:30 - 7:00 - Live online Q & A session with grade level teachers
Teachers may also send you an email with all the links needed for the evening.

Please Join Me, Friday August 28th, @ 9:00 am!

Grab your cup of Joe, and join me Friday Morning!
Daily Attendance is Required!
If your child DOES NOT attend BOTH Synchronous and Asynchronous instruction times, they will NOT receive full attendance credit for the day.
It is expected that students attend all of their live sessions and engage in all of the assigned asynchronous activities. If your child is ill, you will need to call the attendance hotline at 510-537-4590 and press 1 to excuse the absence. Please remember to clearly state your child’s full name, the date of the absence, your name and relationship to the student, the reason for the absence and a phone number where we can reach you if needed. Traveling or vacations are not an excused absence even while in Distance Learning!
You will be contacted by the office, myself, or other support staff if daily attendance is not consistent.
