Excellence in ALL we do!

Official School Day is 7:45-3:03. Tardy Bell rings at 7:45 am.

Successful First Week!

It was a fantastic first week at LVES! Thank you for your patience as we worked out some transportation issues. Teachers and students had a busy week of getting to know each other and the school, which sets the year off on the right path for success. We look forward to a great 2nd week of school next week!

New Faces at LVES...

LVES Weekly is Going Green!

In an effort to save resources, the LVES Weekly will only be available online this year. The link to the LVES Weekly will be sent every Friday by email from Mrs. Jackson. It will also be posted on the LVES Facebook page and LVES website.

LVES Office Hours

Our front office is open Monday-Friday from 7:30-4:00 pm. If you call before or after that time, you will need to leave a message and someone from the office staff will return your call the next day.

Golden Tickets

At LVES, our Vikings are Respectful, Responsible, and Safe no matter where they go in the school. Teachers and staff recognize individual students and classes who are demonstrating Respectful, Responsible, and Safe behavior by handing out Golden Tickets! When classes earn at least 50 tickets, they get to hear their name announced during morning announcements, and it helps our school reach our quarterly goal. Students who earn tickets even get to take their tickets home to show parents.

Check back each week to see our weekly Golden Ticket count!

Front Drive Reminders

Please remember that the front drive is not a morning drop-off location at any point in the morning. The front drive is for parking and walking your child to his/her classroom. Don't forget that we have 2 drop-off locations...Travis Drive starting at 7:10 am, and Civic Drive starting at 7:30 am.

We have 4 designated handicap parking spots in the front parking lot. Please make sure that you have the legally required license plate or placard displayed before parking in one of those spots. We have staff and visitors that need to park in those spots. Thank you for help!

Lunch Visits

As with the start of all new school years, it takes a week to learn and remember the classroom and common area routines and expectations. One of the common area expectations that we spend a lot of time learning the first week is cafeteria. In order to give students time to learn the cafeteria routines and expectations (even our returning students need to re-learn the expectations), we ask that parents do not visit for lunch during the first week of school. Parents may begin lunch visits after August 22nd.

2018-2019 Lunch Times:

  • PPCD - 10:45-11:15
  • PK - 10:45-11:15
  • Kindergarten - 11:00-11:30
  • First Grade - 11:10-11:40
  • Second Grade - 11:40-12:10
  • Third Grade - 12:00-12:30

Starting after August 22nd, if you are going to have lunch with your child, please remember to sign in at the front office and get a visitors badge before heading to the cafeteria. We ask that visitors wait for classes in the cafeteria instead of outside of the classrooms. This allows teachers to get classes down to the cafeteria on time.

Thank you for your help in giving students time to learn routines and expectations.

First Day Packets

Important papers went home on the first day of school that must be completed and returned as soon as possible. All students, both new and returning, received the paperwork in the Student Registration Packet. These documents must be updated annually.

The Student Registration Packet includes the following documents:

  • Parent/Guardian Consent and Acknowledgment - This gives your child permission to attend field trips, and have their picture used in school district publications (yearbook, website, Facebook, etc).
  • Student Residency Questionnaire
  • Parent/Guardian Authorized Individuals - This document is very important for us to have updated and returned. This lets us know who can/cannot pick up your child.
  • Student Directory Information
  • Student Health and Medical

The National School Breakfast and Lunch Program application only needs to be filled out for each household, not each child.

It is very important for the front office to have updated addresses, phone numbers and parent/guardian authorization on file to ensure the safety of all students. If you have any questions, please contact the front office.

Parent Information Night- August 29th

Mark your calendars for Parent Information Night on August 29th. You will get the opportunity to hear about what goes on in the classroom during the day. Teachers will review class/grade level expectations, grading guidelines, daily schedule, and much more. Teachers will have two, 30-minute sessions (6:30-7:00, 7:00-7:30) for families that have children in multiple grade levels.

Stop by the cafeteria at 5:45 for a hot dog and Meet-N-Greet with PTO board members!

We hope to see you on August 29th!

LVES Teachers Are Students Too!

Our awesome teachers took part in a two-day staff development in June to learn about the new English Language Arts standards and different ways to help students be successful in math. This is one of the many reasons why our teachers are the BEST!

Back To Work

Teachers hit the ground running the week before school started preparing their classrooms and participating in many professional development activities. LVES showed Viking spirit at District Convocation on August 8th, and LVES and LVIS teachers worked on differentiation.

2018-2019 Yearbook

Welcome back! We are flying right out the gate with the 2018-2019 LVES yearbook. This year we are changing things up a bit in order to help streamline the yearbook process. Each theme or school event will have deadlines to submit photos. The first photo opportunity for yearbook is “Meet the Teacher” & “1st Day of School” photos. The deadline to submit for this page of yearbook & category of photos is Friday, August 24th. Stay plugged into the weekly online newsletter for yearbook announcements and deadlines. Email pictures to
Thanks for your support in yearbook as all proceeds support the staff and students of LVES!

Want to Volunteer?

We love volunteers at LVES! If you are interested in volunteering in any capacity at LVES (field trips, Room Parent, Watch DOG, Friday Folder Parent, PTO, etc), you must fill out a background check form. Background checks are done yearly, so even returning volunteers must complete a new form at the beginning of the year prior to volunteering on campus.

You can download the background check form by clicking on the link below:

Completed forms can be dropped at the LVISD Administration building located at 8039 Bar-K Ranch Road. Please allow at least 2 weeks for background checks to process.

Counselor's Corner

Hello LVES Families!

As your school counselor, one of my responsibilities is teaching guidance lessons that are centered around the Lago Vista ISD monthly character traits. Students will also be learning about communication skills, problem solving, respecting others, goal setting, and more. Each class will see me at least once a month for these lessons, and I am looking forward to seeing them soon!

In our counselor guidance classes this month, I will be explaining my role as their school counselor, and they will also learn about the character trait of Responsibility. I will be teaching what it means to be a responsible person--by doing what you are supposed to do, planning ahead, always doing your best, using self-control, being accountable for your words, actions, and attitudes, and setting a good example for others. We will discuss ways children can show responsibility at home, at school, with friends, and in their community.

Feel free to email or call me if you have any concerns about your child, or if your child needs help with something specific that I may be able to start a small group around.

Thank you!

Amy Sexton

¡Hola familias LVES!
