4th Grade Magnet Classroom Update
October 3-7
With Mr. Warrenfeltz
In math, we will continue working on dividing whole numbers (using either the traditional algorithm or the area model). Students will create math products which demonstrate their understanding of multiplying and dividing whole numbers (and decimals if they are ready). In science, students will begin designing energy machines that transfer energy from one form to another. We will review the engineering design process and discuss how this impacts scientific thinking!
With Mrs. Hartley
In ELA, students will go through a series of activities in order to revise their narrative writings. These include a lesson on ‘show don’t tell’, using the thesaurus, and an author study of Patricia Polacco, a beloved children’s author. The goal is that by Friday they will have a polished narrative which they will share with classmates. In addition, we will finish our Hatchet read aloud and reflect on the character development. Lastly, students will share their homework book club projects on Friday.
