Museum History Lesson
Last week, CHS students in Mr. England and Mr. Lewis' American History classes enjoyed a visit from the Henry County Museum.
Students are currently studying World War II, and museum representatives visited with students about the home front, right here in Henry County, during the war.
Stories and other primary sources were shared. Students read articles about scrap metal drives that CHS FFA students held, they were able to view ration books and even look up family members that fought in the war.
Students also enjoyed a first hand account of someone who lived in Clinton during World War II.

CHS Student's Slogan Chosen
Relevant and practical learning are a few of the great aspects of Career and Technical Education.
Students in Mrs. Thompson's Intro to Marketing class were tasked with creating slogans for our community's 2019 Olde Glory Days event.
Students used literary devices proven to catch and hold attention to develop their ideas. Their creations were then submitted to the Olde Glory Days selection committee.
Congratulations to student Rylee Arwood whose slogan, "Small Town, Big Fun", was chosen and will be featured this summer as part of the official logo. Rylee also received a $25 Chamber of Commerce gift card.
CMS Students Participate in STEAM Conference
Twenty Clinton Middle School 8th graders joined hundreds of middle schoolers from across the state at UCM on Monday, March 25th for the annual Middle School STEAM Conference. This event was presented by the Kansas City and Central Regional Professional Development Centers.
STEAM integrates science, technology, engineering, art, and mathmatics in an interdisciplinary and applied approach that is coupled with hands-on, problem-based learning. While there, students had the opportunity to attend different break-out sessions that included presentations by Cerner, Cisco, and many UCM professors. Students engaged in many STEAM activities including coding, drafting, server dissection, and computer programming. Students also enjoyed a visit from Governor Parson.

The Blue Handprints are Up
Students at the Clinton Early Childhood Center kicked off the Month of the Child by decorating their school with little blue handprints! This is just the first of many events that our littlest Cardinals will take part in during the month of April.
The Month of the Child celebrates the children of our community, raises awareness of issues affecting children and their families, and honors those that serve and care for the children in our community.
Watch for more handprints around our town, as well as ways that you can get involved to celebrate the children of our community.
District Receives Beneficial Survey Information
In late January and early February, online surveys were made available to four key stakeholder groups in the Clinton School District; parents, staff, community members and middle school and high school students.
The purpose of these surveys was to gauge the current views on the district's performance, as well as strengths, challenges and priorities.
At the March Board of Education meeting, Rick Noble with Patron Insight presented the State of the District Survey results to the school board. Over 1,150 stakeholders took the surveys. This is the largest number of responses that Mr. Noble has received from a school district participating in their services.
Through the survey, respondents reported that the three top-performing areas for the district were; "Performance of the Teachers", "Performance of School Principals" and "Performance of the Superintendent", and provided the district with an overall grade of "B".
The district received very beneficial information from stakeholders regarding other areas of strengths as well as areas that are viewed as areas of improvement. This information is being reviewed by administration and the Board of Education and will be used to guide the district's journey towards continuous improvement.
The district also had over 150 community members show interest in serving on a Virtual Citizens Advisory Committee. This committee will serve as a "sounding board" for the district and will allow the district the opportunity to receive more clarity on those challenges that were noted in the survey.
According to Superintendent of Schools, Destry Brown, "This survey allowed us the opportunity to hear from our patrons their opinions' about our performance and what our priorities should be in the future. We appreciate the many people who took time to provide their feedback, and have their voice heard."
Unique Math at CIS
Third graders at Clinton Intermediate School have been learning math concepts in fun and unique ways.
Students in Mrs. Simon's class “excavated” cookies to find hidden “artifacts” (m&ms). Students then used this data to graph the coordinates as ordered pairs.
Mrs. Patrick's students took advantage of the nice weather as they took math outside. Students surveyed their class to determine which days of the week they watched the most television. Students used this data to construct line plots to represent their findings.

Kim Greer
What would we do without our administrative assistants?
Kim Greer has been with the Clinton School District since 2006 and is one of two secretaries at Clinton High School.
Kim was born and raised on a farm outside of Warsaw.
Kim and her husband Jeff will be celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary next month. Kim and Jeff have two sons. Their oldest, Mitchell, is a sophomore at Drury University in Springfield and is working towards his CPA. For the last two years he has also been employed with Whitlock Accounting Firm. Mitchell is also a fraternity brother in Lambda Chi Alpha and is this year's High Gamma. Their youngest, Riley, will be graduating from Clinton High School in just a few weeks and will be entering the United States Air Force on July 9th.
In her free time, Kim loves to cross stitch and travel. One of her favorite things is when her husband wakes her up for coffee and asks, "Would you like to go for a drive?"
"I have loved working at Clinton High School since the day I started. The kids are my favorite part. You never know what stories you will hear and it makes me smile when they come in on Monday to tell me how their weekend went. I love sharing in the lives of my co-workers also. We ARE one big family!"
