IMPORTANT INFORMATION
IN DISTRICT TRANSFER INFORMATION
During the 2020-2021 academic year, the district began transitioning to a building placement system based on geographic boundaries for each elementary school. Each home address in the district was assigned an attendance zone with a designated elementary building serving those residences. We are now entering year two of this transition. Please read the below information as there are important changes taking effect in August 2021.
IMPORTANT: Beginning August 2021 (Year 2)
Transportation boundaries will be implemented. Transportation will only be provided to and from your zoned school.
Current elementary students will not be forced to move to a different building. They will be “grandfathered” in at their current school. However, if the building is located outside the family’s attendance zone, parents will be responsible for transportation to and from school. Parents must apply for an In-District Transfer if they want to transfer their student.
The Internal District Transfer process will open for requests on February 1, 2021, and close on March 15, 2021. Requests will be submitted by parents through their PowerSchool account. Parents/Guardians will be notified via email by April 1 of the status of their request. Approved transfers will take effect in August 2021. Instructions on filling out a transfer request form, information on elementary school attendance zones as well as a FAQ document can be found at In-District Transfer Information.
Placement will occur on a first-come-first-served basis, dependent on seat availability, and priority order listed below.
Priority 1: Siblings who are attending separate buildings and wish to be reunited.
Priority 2: Families who are attending a building outside of their home boundary and are seeking a transfer into their home boundary zone
Priority 3: Families seeking an internal transfer for any other reason.
Please contact your school office or our administration office with questions.

SMS/Text via SchoolMessenger:
To opt-in, text Y to 67587 from the cell phone you wish to receive text messages on. The cell phone number must be associated with your student’s account in our Student Information System in order to receive text messages.
Opting in doesn’t automatically mean that you will start receiving text messages. It means you have indicated your willingness to receive messages from SchoolMessenger when our district tries to reach out to you. In addition to performing the opt-in process, you’ll want to make sure your child’s school has the correct wireless numbers in our Student Information System. If you haven’t provided this information, please contact your child’s school.
For more information visit our PowerSchool Support page.
Some helpful reminders...
- Please send any changes in transportation with your child in the morning, if possible. This gives the teachers an opportunity to remind your child, if appropriate.
- Remind your child of any changes.
- Keep your pick up number displayed in your car until your child comes to your vehicle. This assists our helpers in getting your child to your car as quickly and safely as possible.
- Continue to pull all the way forward. This helps tremendously in getting all the cars through the line quickly and safely.

DIRECT YOUR DOLLARS - SpartanNash Receipts
Emmons Lake has the opportunity to earn $1000 from SpartanNash, simply by shopping at any local company-owned store, including Family Fare Supermarkets, D&W Fresh Markets and Hardings Grocery and sending the receipt to school! This is VERY helpful, especially this year because we are unable to have any fundraisers thus far and we didn't have any at the end of last year!! Through the “Direct Your Dollars” program, we can turn eligible receipts into cash for our school! Just send your receipts to school with your child to give to his/her teacher. For every $150,000 in receipts we collect, we will earn a $1,000 donation from SpartanNash. We do need original receipts, so no photocopies. Start sending in those receipts!! We’ll collect them throughout the year. With your support – and your receipts – we’ll be raising money for our school. It’s easy to do!!!!
