A Message from our Home and School
The Masked Reader - We have joined forces with the wonderful Mrs. Witwicki and HC staff to put on a month-long event called “The Masked Reader”. The event kicked off last week, in conjunction with “Read Across America” spirit week (March 1-5). Week 2 is coming up this week! Members of the Hunt Club staff will be in disguise. Can you guess their identity as they share a book with you?? New readers each week in March, with the reveal right before Spring Break. The videos will be posted in the LRC Google classrooms for each grade level and the students will have the opportunity to view the videos throughout the week. We will also post images of our Masked Readers on Facebook and invite you to guess their identities!!
Leprechaun Hunt - Another fun activity we have for you in March is a Leprechaun Hunt! Find the clues around the outside of Hunt Club Elementary. Take a selfie of your favorite sign and send the picture (including names of student and teacher) to huntclubhso@yahoo.com to enter your name in a drawing for a $15 gift card. The hunt starts Wednesday, March 10th, and ends Wednesday, March 17th. 6 names will be drawn on March 18th. Good luck!
Join Our Board!! - Home & School desperately needs your help! Board positions need to be filled for the 2021-2022 school year. Most of the board has met their 2 year maximum time limit. We only have two positions left to fill and we really need these positions filled!
Here are the open positions to consider for next year (minimum 1 year, maximum 2 year commitment):
*President (set calendar, set budget with treasurer, run meetings, select yearly fundraiser, oversee and manage events and committees)
*Second Vice President (spirit wear, manage four quarterly meals for staff)
Please let us know if you can help. You will not be alone, there will be current board members to help guide and support you, all year, in whichever position you choose. Home & School is run completely by parent volunteers just like you. Being a Home & School Executive Board Member gives you the greatest opportunity to make a contribution and difference at your child's school. As always, thank you for your support!
Our next meeting is on Tuesday, March 9th at 7 pm. Use this google meet link to join: https://meet.google.com/qvi-ndjk-dyy
Teacher/Staff Shout-Outs - Each month, Home & School will take the names of the teachers and staff members who received “shout-outs” and enter them in a drawing. The February winner was drawn and Ms. Copeland was the winner! She will receive a goodie bag of some chocolates and a gift card to Amazon. Keep submitting the “shout-outs” to our lovely HC teachers and staff so they can both see how much we appreciate them and so that they can be entered in future drawings! KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION NOW OPEN!
Oswego Community Unit School District 308 has opened registration for incoming kindergarten students. Students must be five years old by September 1, 2021 in order to begin kindergarten in August. Parents are encouraged to register as soon as possible, so class planning can begin with the most accurate information possible.
Families will start their registration process online at www.sd308.org/KindergartenRegistration where they will create a Tyler Student Information System account if they don’t have one, or add a new student to their account if they do. The second step involves an appointment at the Central Registration Office (1008 Douglas Road, Mason Square Center, Oswego) where parents will bring the necessary documents for verification. Current Brokaw Early Learning Students and SD 308 satellite preschool location students are returning students and do not need an appointment scheduled for new student/Kindergarten registration; information will come from preschool program administration regarding student registration.
When coming to their registration appointment, the child’s parent or legal guardian must bring the student’s original birth certificate, the parent/guardian photo ID, and three current proofs of residency. Details regarding required documents can be found on the registration webpage.
Medical requirements for kindergarten, not needed at the time of registration, include; a physical due by the first day of school, a vision screening due by October 15, and a dental exam due by May 15, 2022.
Walk-in registrations are not accepted, appointments are required. The website contains simple instructions to assist families with the registration process. Questions can be directed to Central Registration at 630.608.5090. To begin the registration process visit www.sd308.org/KindergartenRegistration.
