The Finish Line is Near!

Longhorn Parents and Students,

The end of the school year is near. We do hope that you are all staying healthy and safe. The following are some academic reminders about student grades. Please make sure to review the reminders carefully, and if you have questions, do not hesitate to contact me, one of the administrators, your student's counselor, or your student's teacher.

Seniors: The final day for Credit recovery is May 22!

Underclassmen: No new assignments after May 15. The teacher will continue to contact students, hold office hours, and assist students toward success through May 22

Senior Updates

I have received some questions from parents regarding outstanding fees (i.e. library book fees, outstanding breakfast & lunch fees, club, etc.). Seniors will not be allowed to participate in graduation ceremonies if they have any outstanding fees. Closing outstanding balances is an important part of ending the school year so I thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Senior Refund Breakdown

We are providing you with the breakdown on how your funds were applied to the activities, t-shirt, and yearbook we had already attended. There may be some changes in the original prices due to company increases and the cost for transportation. This also includes how the remaining funds would have been applied towards Prom, and other activities. It was stated at the beginning of the year that there would be no refunds on any activity that your scholar chooses not to attend.

I hope this answers your questions and concerns. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.

Hybrid Graduation- Message from Dr. Hudson

Earlier this week, school districts in Dallas County received a letter from County Health Authority Director, Philip Huang, strongly discouraging indoor and outdoor graduations. We are still exploring ways we could do an in-person graduation in a safe way, but we have a robust “Plan B” in place – a hybrid graduation ceremony.

A hybrid graduation ceremony is a compilation of scholars in small groups filmed individually giving their graduation speeches and accepting their diplomas. This complies with the Governor’s Executive Orders and guidance from state and local public health officials. A full edited video will be released to the public via a link on and the District’s YouTube channel on Thursday, June 25, 2020.

The District is going to great lengths logistically to make this happen so that our seniors will have something both memorable and safe. The videos will be filmed on May 26 and 27 for both Cedar Hill and Collegiate High Schools.

An email was sent out today to the parents and scholars of the Class of 2020, which provided the details of the hybrid graduation. If we could wave a magic wand and return to normalcy, we would because it is a very difficult time for seniors. We hope they find comfort in knowing, as Winston Churchill once said, “This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.” Brighter days and future achievements lie ahead for our seniors!
