Letter From The Editors
Welcome to the eighth edition of ICHK’s student-published magazine.
This issue’s central theme is Nostalgia. Sentimentality for the past has always existed in society. The nostalgia you feel is different depending on your age, your cultural background and many other things. All of us at ICHK have interesting tales about nostalgia that we long to share.
Nostalgia exists in all aspects of life. Pop culture, family, or simply our own thoughts. Through this term's issue, we believe that it gives you readers a taste of what makes the theme of nostalgia so special.
In this edition, members of our community of all ages provide an insight into what makes them the most nostalgic and present the nostalgic elements we see in pop culture.
Thank you for reading our magazine and showing your appreciation for Nostalgia. We hope that you’ll be back for future editions.

Megan: 'Welcoming the gloomy weather was rather depressing and dull, until tiny rain droplets decided to come pouring down from the dark sky. Tasting the tiny drops of rain and looking at the grey clouds reminded me of the past. Memories decided to resurface. Some good but others not so pleasant.'

Harry: 'When I stepped inside the door, I was standing in the middle of a pale white corridor. At each side of the corridor, hangs old photo frames. I narrowed my pupils to focus on the photo. It was me, one day, one month, one year old. Walking along the corridor, I see myself age. '

Art Gallery

Eunice Wong 13.2, December 2020, Untitled 6, Charcoal with molding paste on paper, A2 (42.0 x 59.4 cm)
This black and white charcoal drawing’s composition is a bedroom setting with a plush toy on a pillow. The black and white colour scheme helps suggest the idea of being isolated during childhood and the toy was shown in the drawing as an object that accompanied me during this isolated childhood. For inspirations, I took influence from Weston’s black and white colour scheme to create a sense of isolated emotion throughout the drawing.

Emily See 13.1, June 2020, Untitled 1, Acrylic and charcoal on paper, 23.4 x 33.1 inches
This piece is painted by two different mediums, acrylic and charcoal to create an old Hong Kong nostalgia feeling which also portrays the complexity of these Tang Lous (Hong Kong old-styled buildings). The Tang Lous, air conditioning and the hanging clothes are historical values dating back to the 50s and 60s. Greatly inspired by Fan Ho’s concept of work, this artwork is to reminisce on my childhood days since I grew up there.
