Mariner Memo
February 8, 2019
It goes without saying, but the weather has been challenging for the last three weeks. I would like to thank everyone for their understanding and the situation and for supporting us through the changes that needed to be made out of necessity.
Now some good news, 1st semester has officially come to a close and we are into our second semester schedule and classes, meaning we have hit the halfway point of the school year. The grading window for teachers is open until Tuesday night at midnight and grades will be official as of Wednesday, Feb. 13th. As a reminder, we do not print middle of the year report cards, so please check Skyward for the final grades.
Starting on Monday next week, MCMS will begin the winter administration of the NWEA test. This is a measure that we started this school year that is helping us to get a better picture of our students as learners and assist their individual needs. Students will take three assessments during their regular language arts and math classes over the next couple of weeks. This is not for a grade, but we encourage students to give their best efforts to give us the best possible picture of how they are learning and progressing.
Next Wednesday, February 13th, is an early release day for our school. Students will be dismissed after a speed day at 12:24. Breakfast and lunch will be served.
I know it is crazy to talk about, but just a reminder that next Friday, February 15th and Monday, February 18th, students will be out of school for Mid-Winter Break.
That's all for this week. Have a great weekend!
-Mr. Ming
