California Healthy Kids Survey, 2022-2023...5th and 7th Grades will take this survey on May 17th, 2023
Your school needs the students to complete this online survey to help improve school culture and climate. If you have any questions about this survey, contact Jeremy Ogzewalla, Principal.
The purpose of this survey is to obtain information from the students about their knowledge, attitudes, and behavior about things that affect learning. It deals with such issues as truancy, safety, harassment, substance use, school connectedness, and learning supports. Students will first answer a question about their current learning situation and then be directed to questions appropriate for that situation (remote learning aka virtual learning or in school).
Student participation is voluntary. It is also very important. The information provided will help guide district and school efforts to promote safety, enhance learning supports, improve student achievement, and reduce health risks that stand as barriers to learning
· This is an anonymous survey. It is designed so that no one can be identified from the data. Students do not have to respond to any questions that they feel could be used to identify them. Instruct them to simply skip any such questions.
· All questions apply to this school only.
· The results are for the use of the district. CDE and WestEd will preserve data confidentiality and refer any data requests to the district.
Thank you for helping students take this important survey!

SAVE Your SNEAKERS
Sierra Ridge Middle School Launches Sneaker Drive Fundraiser to Raise Money for Sports Programs!
Sierra Ridge Middle School is holding an athletic shoe drive fundraiser to raise money for our School Sports Program. Sierra Ridge will earn funds based on the total quantity of gently worn, used, and new sneakers collected. GotSneakers, a social enterprise, will issue funds in compensation for the collected sneakers. Ask around…friends, family, and neighbors. Anyone can help!
We will have a Donation Box in the office!
PAWS Award WINNERS of the week.
Water Safety
California State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW), the Department of Water Resources (DWR), and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) are urging the public to take extra precautions and to be aware of cold-water dangers this spring to avoid a tragedy. The series of winter storms is causing rising river and stream flow levels not seen in years. The eventual spring warm-up will bring fast flows and cold temperatures when all that snow starts to melt. All Californians are being encouraged to wait until summer to recreate in the water when conditions are safer.

Attendance Corner - Everything you need to know!!
What is Short-Term Independent Study (STIS)?
Short-Term Independent Study is an educational option for students who will be absent for three (3) to fourteen (14) school days. This is an excellent option for students who know ahead of time that they will be out of town or unable to attend school temporarily. Not only does it provide a way for students to keep up on missed work while they are gone, it can also excuse extended absences.
What you need to know about STIS:
· Students who need to be absent for more than 15 days are not eligible for a STIS contract.
· Parents are responsible for notifying the school at least 5 business days before the start of the STIS contract.
· Students are responsible for completing and returning all assigned work upon their return to school.
· Work is evaluated by the teacher and attendance credit is assigned according to the amount of work completed.
If you know that you are going to be out of town or have an obligation that is going to take your student out of school for 3-14 days, please contact Ms. Becky to see about setting up a Short-Term Independent Study Contract.
