Fourth Grade Newsletter
February 21 - March 3
This week begins our Map Skills unit. Students will be learning about maps, globes, symbols, legends, scale, distance, longitude, and latitude . We will have a map skills test on Tuesday, 2/28. We will then begin our study of the regions of the United States.
During tiger time, we will be learning about figurative language. Students will learn about alliteration, onomatopoeia, personification, hyperbole, similes, metaphors, idioms, adages, and proverbs. We will have a quiz over figurative language on Friday, 3/3.
This week we will be finishing up Topic 13 on Extending Fraction Concepts:
13-8 Comparing and Ordering Decimals
13-9 Using Money to Understand Decimals
The test for topic 13 will be on Friday, February 24.
Next week we will start Topic 14 - Measurement:
14-1 Using Customary Units of Length
14-2 Customary Units of Capacity
14-3 Units of Weight
14-4 Changing Customary Units
14-5 Problem Solving
Topic 14 Part 1 test will be on Tuesday 3/07.

Tuesday, 2/28 If I Ran the Zoo - Bring your favorite stuffed animal to school.
Wednesday, 3/1 Fox in Socks - Wear your crazy or mismatched socks.
Thursday, 3/2 I Can Read with My Eyes Shut - Wear clothing with words printed on them.
Friday, 3/3 Cat in the Hat - Wear your favorite hat.
