"Love First, Last, & Always"
We are called to care for others. Jesus reached out to those in need all of the time and set an example. Let’s put our love into action!
For the month of February, our Jean Vanier community will be supporting Valeda House, a ministry through Catholic Social Services, which houses up to 6 women who have young children or are expecting. Not only does Valleda House provide a home for up to six months, it offers programs and supports that target the underlying issues around homelessness. Valeda House serves all women in need and runs entirely on donated support.
Each Tuesday in February, students are invited to “Bend the Rules” in support of Valeda House. On each of the “Bend the Rules” days, we are asking students to make a monetary donation to participate. We are challenging students to donate a toonie each Tuesday.
Our “Bend the Rules” schedule is as follows:
Tuesday, February 4th: Wear a Hat
Tuesday, February 11th: Chew Gum
Tuesday, February 18th: Bring a Stuffy
All donations are appreciated and welcomed! Thank you in advance for sharing with others and for truly putting love into action!

Try Math talk with your child. It is simply talking to your child about the math that they experience.
Place Value/Partial Sums
Strategy Explained: When using place value, the child breaks each number (decomposes) into multiple numbers based on their place value, and then like values are combined. 34+28= (30+4) (20+8)
30 + 20 = 50
4 + 8 = 12
50 + 12 = 62
