LB Williams Newsletter
October 2022
A Message from Mrs. Roth - All Aboard!
It's hard to believe we are falling into October already! Our staff and students are even more comfortable with their schedules and routine for the year. We continue to value instructional time and the efforts our students show us every day at LBW. Let's keep working together to have a successful year! Thank you!
LB Williams Conferences will be held on Thursday, October 20 from 3:30 to 8:45pm. This is a great time to understand how your son or daughter have been doing in the classroom. It is always positive to communicate with your child's teacher throughout the entire year, but especially important to be involved with conferences twice a year too. Each student will be assigned a 15 minute time slot for you as the parent to visit with the classroom teacher. The detailed information about conferences will be coming home on Friday, October 7 from your classroom teacher.
As a friendly reminder, we don't have school on Monday, October 10 for a pre-planned Professional Development Day for staff. There is no school on this day for students.
All Aboard! This past week, our students, have being learning about the Energy Bus for Kids Book. This is a great read. Please see the letter that was sent home on Friday about this positive reading project we are completing in light of our Anti-Bullying Kick-Off for the school year. Our theme this year is Fuel Your Positive Energy at LBW. I challenge you to ask your child to share about the five rules of the Energy Bus. This has been a positive way to start our school year and please be watching for special parent nights in the future to highlight this information.
On Oct 24, we have the honor of having the Bus Load of Books event at our school. We were chosen as the only school in South Dakota to have this author/illustrator team come to our school to celebrate art and literacy. We are excited to host them throughout the days for two large group presentations and a small group gathering as well. Each student will be given a free book from this event. Thank you to Bus Load of Books for this opportunity!
Again, we appreciate your positive support as we work together to help our students continue to grow and learn. I continue to be so amazed with our "Leaders Blooming Within."
Happy Fall!
Mrs. Roth
PTO Family Fun Fest Held in September
PTO Infomation
Wow! What a wonderful first full month of school! It was wonderful seeing so many of you at our Family Fun Fest last month. This month we are looking forward to getting ready for our LBW Carnival. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and the kids love it. We have not been able to have the Carnival for a couple of years and really hope this one will be amazing. We will be kicking off our LBW Carnival Raffle Ticket sales on October 6th. The money we raise helps us pay for our field trips and upgrades to our playground and so much more. The student council students have a wonderful wish list of things to purchase with our Raffle ticket sales. We will need everyone's help raising money. Our Carnival is on November 5th from 11am to 2 pm.
Our next meeting for PTO is Tuesday, October 4th at Blarney’s. See you there!

Social Media Interns in Fifth Grade
This year we are trying something new! Fifth grade friends will be trained throughout the year to be social media interns. The picture below are our September/October Social Media Interns and they will then teach others in their classroom to do this in November/December. We will continue to add students throughout the year to learn this leadership role in 5th grade. The goal of a social media intern is to continue to celebrate all the amazing educational activities and event going on at LBW. They eventually will be creating pic collages and other items about our school to share on social media. We are excited to give our fifth grade leaders this opportunity to highlight our amazing school.
