Our Path Note Topic
I read an article that provided five recommendations for making a difference in a child's or adult's life. From kids earning failing grades to earning B's and A's. An adult going from a Low work rating to an Exemplary one. Here are the summarized recommendations:
1. Meaningful connections--Hand shakes (tough today with the concern of virus spread), pat on the back (also difficult in today's environment), and fist pumps.
2. The Spoken Message--be sincere about a positive attribute you see in someone, and tell them. Write a personal note to them appreciating what they did or do.
3. Honor or Attach High Value--Be interested in someone else's hobbies and interests. Talk about them.
4. Picture a Special Future--Tell the person: "You make a great teacher", "You're going to be a very successful person", "I can see you will do well in college", etc.
5. Active Comment--It’s the elementary teacher showing up at 6:30 and going home at 5:30 and working all Summer on her classroom. It is the principal doing duty after duty and then going home and doing book studies and returning calls until sundown is just a memory.

Piece of the Puzzle
This Week's Piece of the Puzzle is Angel Curtis. Angel is one of our WAMS paraprofessionals. She supports our WAMS students, particularly those with special nees, with such a patient approach. She assists with 7th grade cafeteria duty every day and demonstrates the perfect balance of firmness and kindness. Angel always impresses us with her ability to problem-solve and anticipate needs. Her interactions with students reflect a true heart for helping others. She is involuable to us here at WAMS.
Join us in congratulating Angel Curtis as our Piece of the Puzzle this week!
