Disney Celebration Digest 2022-23
October 11, 2022
Notes from Dr. Elliott
Dear Disney Families,
Happy October! I am so proud of our students and staff for all we have accomplished this month. We have celebrated our first group of students for their achievements and excellence in Dolphin BEST. We have completed beginning of the year assessments that will help teachers provide high-quality instruction on grade-level and guide them in providing best interventions to close gaps. Students have met and collaborated with their Neighborhood classes building connections and growing our Disney family culture. I am so excited to see the continuous academic and social/emotional growth in our students.
In this edition, you will find:
- Citizen of the Month & MAD Skills Recognition
- Counselor's Corner
- Alternative Options for Child Care during Professional Learning-NO School Days
- Color Dash information
- Upcoming Events for Your Calendar

Counselor's Corner
October is here and is one of my favorite months of the year! This month, Red Ribbon Week will take place October 24-28. Our student ambassadors will be helping to come up with spirit days and communicating announcements throughout your classrooms. This year, we will also be offering an optional poster contest for our 3-5 graders. This contest is conducted through the Springfield Elks Lodge, and more information will be emailed to you about the details for the contest. Ambassadors will also promote this in the 3-5 classrooms.
This is an important time of year to encourage safety and making sure that are students are making healthy and safe choices. Halloween can be a very exciting time for our kiddos, but there can also be dangers associated with it. Let’s do our part to help them make safe choices this month and every month!
Please remember that you can also request for me to see your students by using this form: https://forms.gle/8noyGNiXSCBBGNAS8
Conscious Discipline Tip:
Whoever you believe is in charge of your feelings, you have placed in charge of you. If a child makes you angry or frustrated, you have put that child in charge of you. Stop, take a deep breath, and calm yourself before you react to the child.
