Cedar Grove Friday Flash
April 1, 2022
Dear Cedar Grove Families,
As mentioned last week in the Flash, Cedar Grove and Wilson Wims ES will be partnering once again to host summer school this summer. The program will take place July 6-29 and will be tailored for students with the greatest need of mitigating learning disruption. The curriculum is designed to support students who need additional or repeated instruction in the major work of the previous grade level and/or are currently below-grade level in reading or math. Parents of students recommended for summer school will be contacted via email to receive registration information.
Other summer opportunities for elementary school students include the following:
- Online tutoring with MCPS staff and external providers available to all students, on flexible schedules and available 24/7
- Out of School Time” program opportunities.
Final summer program offerings will be dependent on enrollment, budget, and staffing.
This Monday and Tuesday mornings, students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will take the MCAP math assessments. Please make sure your child is well rested, has a healthy breakfast, and arrives to school on time. Thank you.
We know this is a rather lengthy newsletter, but we wanted to be sure you had all current and upcoming information, as the next Friday Flash will be not be sent again until April 22nd due to spring break.
Until then, we wish you and your family well and hope that you enjoy the break!
Mr. Derby and Mrs. German
