What Did We Learn This Week?

Language Arts

We hope you enjoyed the break from spelling this week! Next week, we won't have spelling again between the play, a no homework night on Wednesday, and Purim on Thursday! Our story this week was by Tomie dePaolo and was called Now One Foot, Now the Other. We focused on cause/effect in the story. In grammar, we learned about the linking verbs do, does, and did and how to use them in a sentence. Our centers were fun this week, and everyone LOVED the baby picture center! We also had fun building 3D shapes and making geometric pictures with pattern block shapes.

We had a fun week reviewing our plane and solid shapes. We also had fun making plane shape pictures by tracing shapes. Our highlight of the week, of course, was geometric snack day on Thursday! Thank you all for sending in a snack for your child to share with the class.

Social Studies

We finished our unit 3 chapter in our books. We made vocabulary cards to focus on the important words we need to know for our test. Then, we reviewed for our test. If you have time over the weekend, please have your child study what is in his/her social studies folder. The students will be able to use their folder if needed on the test. There will not be a tutorial next week before the test, but we will devote plenty of time to preparing in class. The test is on Wednesday.

Dear 2nd grade parents,

These past week we learned about the holiday of Purim by singing songs, listening to the Megillah story, practicing the blessings, reviewing the 4 Mitzvahs, reading stories, working on holiday worksheets and using short sentences expressing ideas in Hebrew.

Our letters in our ARIOT book were: פּ, פ, ף PEY, FEY, FINAL FAY )FEY SOFIT(.
