May 2019

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Students can check out our Health and Wellness Display in the Library for lots of helpful resources, including our new e-book collection. Cameron's Collection is a collection of 53 e-books targeting many aspects of mental health that youth face today.


Students can also visit the Wellness Center on campus or see their counselors for additional information or help.

Thank you to the many Titans who shared their poems during our Poetry Slam last Friday. What a great way to spend lunch on a Friday!

Voice of the Students (VOTS)

LOL Book Club News

The next LOL Book Club meeting is May 21st during Titan 28 in the Library. Still want to join? Come and pick up your copy in the Library today! We are currently reading Cinder.

New York Times' Contests End Soon. Submit Those Entries Titans!

May is the last month to submit entries for the Blackout Poetry and Podcast Contests!



  1. Blackout Poetry Contest - Create a poem composed from words and phrases found in Times' articles. We are inviting students to submit blackout poems created from a print New York Times page. Students will photograph their submissions, and can use any page of any edition of The Times in print. Click here for more information! Deadline is May 9th.
  2. Podcast Contest - Make an original podcast, of five minutes or less, to inform and entertain listeners. Click here for more information! Deadline is May 21st.

Limited Library Hours During AP Testing

AP Testing is taking place in the Library from May 6th to May 17th. Students will still be able to access the Library for resources, but the hours will be limited. Please click here for the schedule.


Students can also still check out and return books and Chromebooks in Room L111 next door to the Library at any time. L111 will be the librarian's temporary home base during testing.

Meghan Casey from the North Highlands-Antelope Library will be on campus during both lunches. Encourage your favorite Titan to check out the new books she has, find out about volunteering at the local library this summer, summer reading programs, and more! Plus, she always has freebies!


This will be her last visit for the year!

Overdue Book and Fine Slips Go Out to Students Next Week!

Students will receive notifications of overdue textbooks and library books, as well as library fines, on Wednesday, May 8th, and on Thursday, May 9th, from their 2nd period teachers. Students will be able to return their current textbooks with their classes during the last week of school, May 24-30th.


  • Students can pay their library fines and return any overdue books during all regular Library hours.


The end of school is quickly approaching, so please bring those books back Titans!


Seniors must clear all fines and return all books and Chromebooks by Graduation Day!

Chromebook Returns

Juniors and Seniors will be returning their loaner Chromebooks and chargers during their 2nd period final exam and/or after school on May 30th in the Library. Students who do not return their loaner CB and charger by 3 pm on May 30th will be issued a $250 fine in Aeries.


If your Titan does not need their CB for their final exams, they may return their Chromebook and charger before May 30th during regular Library hours if they so choose. They should confirm this with their teachers!

ALL LEARNING LAB

Does your teen need a quiet place to study? Does your teen need tutoring after school?


Join us in the AnHS Library, after school, every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 2:35 to 4:00 pm. Students can get help in all subjects, use Chromebooks/computers, printers, and calculators, and access Library Resources.


We can even provide documentation for the time the student attended. Just have them ask Miss Raatz or Mrs. Gorkhali for an ALL attendance slip. We are ALL in for student learning and success here at Antelope High School.

on May 28th in the Cafeteria!

What if my Titan needs access to a Chromebook outside of class and does not have one?

The AnHS Library has Chromebooks available for use at lunch and after school. Any student who needs access to a Chromebook or printing services can take advantage of our Library resources. Library hours can be viewed here. The local North Highlands-Antelope Library is also a great resource for technology.

Search for books from home using our OPAC. Place a hold on your favorite titles. Pick up your requested book(s) at the Library Circulation Desk.

Sacramento Bee Electronic Resources

Need to find current articles in English or Spanish? Visit the Sacramento Bee News in Education website and log in as a student using the AnHS Class ID and password found on our Library website under electronic resources. Once you log in as a student select "Read Today's Paper" to choose The Sacramento Bee or El Nuevo Herald. You can also access many other student resources on their website.
