The CSAF is once again offering to all JROTC cadets an opportunity of a lifetime--to earn a private pilot's license during the summer at no cost and no military obligation to the individual. Only the best and brightest will be selected nationwide, 250 to be exact. Students interested in flying must be 17 by Jul 2021, carry at least a 3.0 GPA, and be willing to enroll in JROTC. Although this program is not free, limited scholarships are available.

If you have any questions about the program or JROTC at SV please contact Major Perry at

Sessions include Admissions Myth Buster, What Juniors should be doing now, Health Science programs, Exploring Music Programs, NCAA Eligibility, NC College Sessions, VA College sessions, HBCU Night, and 200+ More!!

Student Registration
Students should register below for each session that they want to attend. Once they register, they’ll receive a confirmation email with their unique link to join the Zoom webinar. (Students will also receive a barcode, but the barcode is not necessary for this virtual event.) When students register, they are sharing their registration information only with colleges presenting on that particular panel. StriveScan does not sell or share personally identifiable student information with any other third parties. Students should participate live so they can ask questions and interact with the college admission counselors. If students are unable to attend live, we still encourage them to register for the sessions they are interested in and recordings will be available here later.

Parents should register their students using their student’s information.

Registration is now open students for our largest virtual college fair yet, featuring 130+ Coalition member schools. See a full list of Coalition Members here.

Learn more about the event, scheduled for Sept. 16 and 17, and please extend an invitation* to your students.

If you will be applying to college this fall please read the below information carefully and read ALL of it.

IMPORTANT CHANGES TO Common Application PROCESS: You can now start creating your Common App account but please do not invite any teacher or counselors to write letters of recommendation through Common App. This process will take place in Naviance for the 2020-2021 school year. After August 1st you will need to match your Common App account with your Naviance account. Once you match Common App to Naviance you will then able to request transcripts and teacher recommendations in Naviance Student.

For the 2020-2021 academic year, our school will be using Naviance for college document submissions. Naviance will simplify the processes of the counseling department and teachers follow to send transcripts, school reports, and recommendation letters to colleges, including all Common Application colleges.

Please email Mrs. Bishton if you have any questions. (

Class of 2021 parent/student senior conferences and/or IGP conferences will begin on September 21st. In addition, your student will receive an invitation to schedule a meeting with one of our Career Development Facilitators (CDF) if he/she needs additional resources and support in planning for life after high school.

There are many different types of college applications and we encourage you to do your research about what fits best for your individual needs. Not all colleges use every application- make your college list before you begin creating accounts. We think the Common Application is a great place to start because so many required documents are linked to your accounts to make the application process as seamless as possible for your, your counselor, your parents, and your teachers.

If you need help trying to determine the best way to apply please email Mrs. Bishton to discuss your options at Below you'll find a link to our Application Tracker. Please use this document as needed to organize your college applications.
