The Crissman Connection
Summer Edition
Congratulations!! You have completed the 2019-2020 school year!
A big thank you to all the families for picking up their belongings last week! I can't believe we wrapped up our last week and summer is officially here!
Congratulations to our Crissman 6th Graders as they finish their final year at Crissman Elementary and make the transition to junior high school in the fall. It was so great to see so many of you at our Clap Out last week.
Reflecting on the past school year, I can't believe how much we have overcome. Our Crissman teachers were AMAZING as they quickly learned a new online program, created lessons for students to use in that platform, and taught students how to use Schoology through virtual meetings and help sessions. Crissman parents were AMAZING as they developed at home schedules to help with online learning while managing their own work from home and everything else.
Now we look to next fall and the future, which is very uncertain. What school looks like in the fall depends on the COVID cases over the summer. The state of Michigan, by order of the governor, has a task force for education looking at recommendations from local and federal health sources and monitoring the COVID cases as the state continues to lift restrictions.
As recommendations develop and plans are shared by the state, UCS will communicate plans for school in the fall to parents and community. Even if a plan were to be shared today, it would most likely change before August. I know how hard it is to plan ahead when we do not know what the future brings.
As soon as we can share information, it will be shared throughout the district and by Crissman Elementary. Discussions are underway as we work to find a solution for education that will meet all our students' needs while also following health guidelines for the safety of all students, staff, and community members.
Have a wonderful summer! Look for the continued communication through email and Crissman/UCS Facebook pages as updates become available.
Stay well,
Mrs. Papastamatis
Happy 50th Anniversary

Summer Reading in Schoology
HELLO!!
Mrs. Conley created a course in Schoology Called CRISSMAN SUMMER READING CHALLENGE. This will be the summer reading program. In it will be monthly calendars that students can either download and write on or edit as a pdf. They will submit calendars to me just like an assignment in Schoology. Directions are found below as well as the Course Code.
Want access over the summer?
Students will continue to have access to:
eSpark (Grades K-3)
Learning A-Z/Raz Kids (Grades K-3)
Dreambox (Grades K-2)
IXL (Grades 3-6)
Discovery Education (Science for all grades)
ConnectED ( Reading program grades K-6)
Schoology will be available until July 31. Teachers will not be adding new materials over the summer, but you can access previous materials for review. After July 31, teacher materials will be archived and Schoology made ready for the 2020-2021 school year.
