Some of us did not do the best we can and did not study. You really need to review this material for your EOC. Please do not wait until the night before midterms to review. I recommend reviewing every week to keep the material fresh. You will be seeing it again. I will be putting questions from each unit on your upcoming assessments, so be prepared!
Our Assessment for Unit G is scheduled for January 23, 2015. Your Vocabulary is due the same day. For those that are trying to compare what we are learning with the Geometry book for extra support, we are covering chapter 8 sections 1-4, plus other information outside the text.

Today we are working on Special Right Triangles. We will start by looking at the Pythagorean Theorem (we will review this again on Friday). Then, you will be learning the properties of 45º-45º-90º triangles. You will also be solving real-world problems involving right triangles. This topic will include theorems on both triangle types and how to find the hypotenuse and missing legs of these triangles. This is great for when you have a house built. When they are putting your roof on your house, you need to know that the slope will allow the rain to roll off the fastest to prevent leakage. This will also help you when you are trying to find the shortest distance to a destination.

Today's lesson is on the Pythagorean Theorem and its converse. We are going to look at the Pythagorean theorem and why it works. You will know how to prove and apply the Pythagorean Theorem and its converse (MA.912.G.5.1). You will also know if a solution is reasonable (MA.912.G.5.4) and how to apply it to the real-world (MA.912.G.8.3).
