Class of 2020 Update

May 2018~Prepping for Junior Year

Summer School

Many of you are signed up for summer school, either to take advantage of opportunities to get ahead, or to catch up on lost credits. Personal Finance is full, but if you would like (or need) to take something else, you can still submit an application or call to get enrolled (742-2860)!

Summer School Application

Just a reminder that the dates & times for summer school are:

Session 1

June 4th-June 15th (7:30-2:00)

Session 2

June 18th-June 29th (7:30-2:00)

Next Year's Classes

The last week of school, all students received a list of the courses they will be scheduled in for next year. Just a reminder that there are no schedule changes for next year.

If you are enrolled in English 3 Honors next year, please remember to complete the summer reading project! You should have gotten that information from your English teacher, and here is the link to that again: English 3 Honors Summer Reading Project

You can email Mrs. Hudson with any questions.

OTC Career Center and GO CAPS Students: Both of these programs require a lot of responsibility and commitment. Please keep in mind your transportation needs over the summer so you are prepared in August. Reminder: bus transportation is provided for OTC Career Center students, but GO CAPS students must provide their own transportation. Attendance is critical, and you need to communicate any questions with your teachers in regards to timing, possible field trips, or any time you may miss.

Summer Opportunities

Take advantage of your time over the summer! There are several things you could be doing to help in planning for life after high school. Some ideas include:

  • Job Shadowing
  • Enrichment Camps
  • Summer School
  • College Visits
  • Community Service
  • Work

*It's a good idea to keep a log of any job shadowing, community service or enrichment camps for college & scholarship applications.

ACT Information

For those of you that are college bound, junior year is the prime time to be taking the ACT. Remember you can take it as many times as you want (technically 12 is the limit, but who wants to do that?!), and only your highest score counts.

To register, view dates, cost, etc. go to the ACT Website.

Want to prep/study over the summer? You can order the book, "The Real ACT Prep Guide" online, which is a great resource, or use our online Learning Express Library through WHS.

Potential College Athletes

Students who would like to play a sport in college need to register with the NCAA or NAIA (depending on the college). There is a fee for both. Follow the links below for additional information and keep in mind it is the student's responsibility to meet requirements set by NCAA.

3 Things to Remember This Summer:

  1. Remember what's REALLY important.
  2. Be HAPPY.
  3. Be KIND.
