Wildcat Warrior Challenge Mini Contest - PTO message
The attached pictures shows the standings as of 4pm Yesterday. There are several classrooms that could wind up in the Top 3, winning a silly string fight. And our Individual Pledge Earners have a tight race for the Top 10. Our Top 3 Pledge Earning Families are also facing a close race. It will be anyone's guess how this will turn out.... to make this a little sweeter, let's have a Mini Contest!
All pledges earned from yesterday through Friday at 11:59pm will qualify.
Our Top Pledge Earner and our Top Pledge Earning Family will each win one item of their choice from the PBIS store! Big ticket items in this store typically cost $50-$100 in Wildcat Cash.
Our Top Pledging Classroom will win time on the rock wall in the gym!
Still need to register? Register online via PayPal here. Please be sure to include your student's name, grade and classroom teacher in the notes.
You can also send your registration in with your student.
A pledge link to 99 Pledges will be created for your student upon registration.

Halloween Update
Halloween is a fun and exciting time for elementary students. We would like to create an opportunity for our students to be able to celebrate it in school while still following certain protocols. If the weather allows, we will have our outside Halloween Parade on Monday, October 31st at 3:00pm. All visitors will remain outside and view the parade along the parade route(details about the parade route will be shared closer to Halloween). If it is raining, the parade will be canceled. The classroom celebrations will take place before the parade. Your child's teacher will provide you with information on any items that might be needed for their classroom celebration. Students will be allowed to wear their school-appropriate costumes on Monday, October 31st.
Few Things to Remember:
- Please consider a simple costume for school.
- Students should be able to use the bathroom independently while wearing their costumes.
- Please choose a costume that does not reflect violence. Inappropriate props such as blood, plastic swords, guns, knives, and weapons of any kind are not allowed even if they are a part of the child's costume. These could be saved for supervised activities at home.
- Students can wear costume makeup to school but we encourage families to keep Halloween as simple as possible.
PTO Trunk or Treat- October 21st
Our Trunk or Treat event is tomorrow (Friday, October 21st) night from 6:00-8:00pm. This is a fun event that many of our kids and families love! If you plan to pass out candy and have a "trunk" space, please be at Weiss between 5:00-5:45 so we can have all of our trunks organized.
Pictures of School Happenings
We are so thankful for the DCTC(Downriver Career Technical Consortium) coming to Weiss to show our 5th graders about different careers and trades they might be involved in as they get older. The students loved it and learned so much!
Weiss Wildcats wore orange for Unity Day to show kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Each student also got an orange anti-bullying bracelet as a reminder on how to be a kind friend.
We are loving our new basketball hoops that were installed at Weiss recently! Thank you Mrs. Gilbert and Mr. Stanton to help raise funds for this project throughout the last few years which will benefit all our Wildcats!

Reminder News
October Character Focus
This month at Weiss our students are learning about what it means to be respectful.
At the end of the month, we will highlight a student from each class that has gone above and beyond to be respectful. With our students we talk about "being the best you, you can be". We also talk about the importance of manners, listening when someone is talking, and treating others how they want to be treated.
Take a moment to check out this 5-minute video about respect and feel free to discuss as a family some times when you have felt respected: https://youtu.be/GOzrAK4gOSo
Any additional conversations our students have away from school about being respectful will support our goals at Weiss.
