Reading and Math STAAR Simulations
February 26th and March 4th your child will be taking the Reading and Math STAAR Simulations (practice STAAR tests) on both of these days. We ask that you try not to schedule any appointments on those days. It is important for your child to arrive on time and be present. Please direct any questions to your child's homeroom teacher.
Middle School Course Cards
Please make sure to fill out, sign, and return the purple course card for middle school NO LATER THAN FEBRUARY 25th! Even if you are planning on moving, we are asking all students to fill one out. But, please indicate at the top which middle school your child is planning to attend. If you have any questions, please contact your child's homeroom teacher, Mrs. Hendrix, or the Clark Middle School counselor.
The month of February is a great time to talk about appreciating diversity. Mrs. Hendrix has led discussions about how people have so many ways they are the same on the inside even if they look different on the outside. In kindergarten and first grade we used a brown egg and a white egg to illustrate this concept. We cracked the eggs to find out that they are the same on the inside just like most people want and need the same things like; friends, love, hopes, and dreams.
This week is Friendship week when we spend time honoring our friends and improving our friendship skills.
Class Party Money
If you have any questions or concerns about this or are unsure if you have paid, please contact Katie Augustine, PTA Treasurer (email firstname.lastname@example.org)!
Symphony Field Trip Tuesday!
Fifth grade is heading the Symphony on Tuesday, February 19th! Your child will need to bring a sack lunch this day, unless you indicated that you will be purchasing a lunch on the permission slip that went home several weeks ago. We will be eating in our classroom when we return from the symphony!
Also, please remember that this is a dress up event. Just like you wear different clothes to play sports that you would wear to school, we want them to understand the importance of this event and dress accordingly. Girls should wear a dress or skirt, or nice pants and a blouse. Boys should wear slacks and a nice shirt. We ask for no jeans with holes or t-shirts. We appreciate your help in making this a special event for our wonderful 5th graders.
Cold Weather and Recess
- We will go out for recess if the temperature/wind chill is ABOVE 37 degrees.
- If the temperature/wind chill is BETWEEN 32 and 37 degrees, we will go outside for half of recess.
- We will have indoor recess if the temperature/wind chill is BELOW 32 degrees.
- Teachers check the temperature/wind chill shortly before recess time (10:00 am).
