Preparing for Success!
As a Milford Eagle, here are some tips to help you be successful in high school:
Set clear goals: Define what you want to achieve academically and personally during your ninth-grade year. Set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound goals.
Develop effective study habits: Establish a consistent study routine, create a dedicated study space, and use effective study techniques such as active reading, note-taking, and reviewing material regularly.
Stay organized: Use a planner or digital tools to keep track of assignments, due dates, and extracurricular activities. Prioritize your tasks and break them down into smaller, manageable steps.
Build positive relationships: Cultivate healthy relationships with your teachers, classmates, and mentors. Seek help and support when needed, and collaborate with peers on group projects or study sessions.
Seek extracurricular involvement: Participate in clubs, sports, or other extracurricular activities that align with your interests. This can help you develop new skills, meet like-minded peers, and demonstrate a well-rounded profile.
Manage time effectively: Learn to balance your academic responsibilities with other commitments and activities. Prioritize your tasks, avoid procrastination, and practice time management techniques such as creating schedules or using productivity apps.

Summer Reading
CP English 9
Students enrolled in CP English 9 will read The Inheritance Games (or a sequel) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. The Bookmatters in Milford will have copies of this book for purchase. You can also see this ordering information from Amazon (link).
Students enrolled in Honors English 9 will read The Inheritance Games (or a sequel) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes AND select a book that you have not read before that is included on the Michael L. Printz award list. Books on this list, according to the Young Adult Library Services Association, are ones that exemplify “literary excellence in young adult literature.” You may select a winner or an honor book from the list. Should you have questions about the nature of the content of the book, you can find an overview of it at commonsensemedia.org. Be sure to discuss your book choice with your parents/guardians.
WORK PERMITS
Questions about having a Work Permit completed? Here's what you need to know!
In order to have a Work Permit processed, the following documents must be completed BEFORE you bring it to the Office:
- Student/Applicant Information - Completed by student and parent/guardian
- Pledge of Employer - Completed by employer
- Physicians Certificate - Completed by Doctor/Physician
- All completed documents must also be submitted with either a copy of your Birth Certificate/Passport or Baptismal Certificate.
Once all of the documents are completed, you can bring them to the Main Office to be processed. Incomplete Work Permits will not be accepted.
During the summer months, Work Permits can be dropped off at the High School Main Office for processing.
