Mrs. Manion's Message - August 2020
A few tidbits/resources from the Crossroads School Counselor
Welcome Back From Mrs. Manion - CES School Counselor
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! While this is certainly not the way we had hoped to start the school year, we still are excited to get the year going and get to working with our Trailblazers. Each new school year is a time for a new beginning. There is excitement for new supplies, new faces, and new learning. Even though we aren't together in person, yet, I am confident the Trailblazers of Crossroads Elementary are in for an exciting and fun school year!
As the school counselor of Crossroads Elementary, I am committed to our students and their families. My goal is to offer our students a comprehensive school counseling program that assists students in learning the skills and attitudes necessary to be successful learners, productive citizens, and lifelong leaders! Whether we are meeting in person or virtually, I assure that I am available and working to help our students develop and grow. I will be offering character development guidance lessons to throughout the year to help students develop important social and emotional skills. I will also be providing resources to teachers, families, and students to help with students personal growth. I also have daily office hours and am available to assist with whatever needs may arise.
Below you will find out a little bit more information about me, the school counselor and my contact information. I'd love to hear from you! Feel free to email Mrs Manion lauren.manion@bullitt.kyschools.us at any time!

Crossroads Elementary - You Fit In Here!
For the month of August, students are learning about our school theme "Crossroads Elementary - You Fit in Here!" Each student, staff member, and family member are in important part of the Crossroads Elementary puzzle. Each individual bring unique gifts and talents that are vital to the Crossroads family. We value each person individually and count on each of you to help make our Crossroads puzzle complete. In our August counseling lesson, Mrs. Manion is reading aloud the book, "Where Oliver Fits." Students will be reflecting on their own leadership skills and learning to value those around them. Students will be asked to create a puzzle piece for us to display at Crossroads Elementary!
Counseling lessons are optional during remote learning but still very valuable. I encourage each student to check out the lesson, which will be sent out through classroom platforms. If you have any questions, reach out to Mrs. Manion!
Social/Emotional Learning At Home
Leadership Skill Of The Month:
ILEAD: I Listen, Excel, Always Care, and Do What Is Right; I Am A Trailblazer, I LEAD! Teachers will be having class meetings to help our students learn our Crossroads Expectations, I LEAD. Think about what it means for students to show ILEAD at home. What does it look like, and sound like to Listen, Excel, Always Care, and Do What is Right? Use this template as a guide!
Check out the resource page of my website for more ideas on how to support social/emotional learning at home during remote learning.
If you need any help or ideas on supporting your children socially or emotionally during this time, feel free to reach out to Mrs. Manion!
Just For FUN!
Each month I'll post a few enrichment ideas for students to be able to Sharpen Their Saws! Let your students pick out one that sparks their interest!
- Check Out Storytime Yoga through the Bullitt County Public Library. One our BCPS teachers is doing Storytime Yoga on the Bullitt County Public Library Facebook page. During this time of constant change and uncertainty, our students need mindfulness tools more than ever! Storytime yoga is a fun way to incorporate movement, breath, positivity, and a growth mindset with literacy! New videos each month. Check out the latest one here: Storytime Yoga
The Parklands of Floyd's Fork:
-If your family is anything like mine, COVID-19 has provided many opportunities for exploring the great outdoors. We spent so much time this summer at Broad Run park on trails and enjoying nature. The Parklands has some great hands-on virtual resources as well. Get outside, enjoy nature, and check out some of the resources to enhance the learning!
Recess Ideas: Keep those bodies moving even during remote learning! See some ideas below!
